The recognition celebrates 130 individuals making an outstanding contribution to the future of UK manufacturing, with honourees recognised for their achievements, innovation, influence and leadership across the sector.

We’re pleased to have been named the OAL SME Regional Winner of Apprenticeship Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeships and Skills Awards 2026.

The award recognises employers that are committed to developing apprentices and creating opportunities for the next generation of talent. At FAIRFIELDS, apprentices are an important part of our team, gaining practical experience, developing their skills and contributing to real engineering, ICT and business projects.

We’re proud of the progress our apprentices make throughout their time with us, supported by colleagues across the business who share their knowledge, provide guidance and help them build their careers.

Daniel Matthews, our Apprenticeship Coordinator, and Elijah Mangnall, one of your engineering apprentices, attended today’s ceremony to collect the award on behalf of FAIRFIELDS.

We’ll now represent the region at the National Finals on 25 November 2026

Marketing Opportunity at FAIRFIELDS (Maternity Cover)

We're looking for an experienced B2B marketer to join FAIRFIELDS on a maternity cover contract.

Bringing together Engineering, Control and Digital expertise, FAIRFIELDS works across infrastructure and industrial projects. You'll help communicate our capabilities and customer value through content, campaigns, digital channels and events, while also supporting a range of business development activities, including bid submissions, customer portals, case studies and the administration that helps keep our sales and marketing function running effectively.

Working closely with our Business Development Managers and Technical Sales team, you'll help develop and deliver marketing activity that supports business growth across our target sectors. Reporting to the Sales Director, you'll also provide day-to-day support and guidance to our Junior Marketer, helping coordinate activities and priorities across the marketing function.

We're looking for someone with proven marketing experience and the confidence to organise and deliver activity independently, while building effective relationships across the business.

Responsibilities and salary will reflect the agreed scope of the appointment.
Location: Retford, Hoyland & Remote

FAIRFIELDS Renews North Yorkshire Council Swing Bridges Maintenance Contract Through to 2030!

FAIRFIELDS is pleased to announce the renewal of our maintenance contract with North Yorkshire Council, continuing our partnership to support the safe and reliable operation of some of the region’s most iconic swing bridges through to 2028.

The contract covers the maintenance of the Selby Town Swing Bridge, Cawood Swing Bridge, A63 Bypass Swing Bridge, and Whitby Swing Bridge, providing comprehensive support across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems.

As part of the ongoing partnership, FAIRFIELDS will continue to deliver planned maintenance, fault response, and a 24-hour emergency call-out service, helping to ensure these critical assets remain safe, operational, and available for the communities and industries that rely on them.

We look forward to continuing our work with North Yorkshire Council, providing engineering expertise and lifecycle support to maintain the performance and reliability of these important transport links.

This week, FAIRFIELDS has been working with STEMpura to deliver WRO-inspired STEM Days to schools across Scotland, giving young people the opportunity to get hands-on with robotics, problem-solving and competition-style challenges.

Alongside the practical activities, the sessions have provided an insight into careers across engineering, technology and infrastructure, connecting what students learn in the classroom with the real projects taking place in their local area.

It’s a great way to introduce young people to the opportunities available within STEM and show how the skills they’re developing today can be applied to real-world challenges.

As industrial systems become more connected, manufacturers and operators are facing increasing pressure to improve cyber resilience.

But where do you start, and how do you know which improvements should be prioritised?

Join FAIRFIELDS on Tuesday 3 November, 2:00–3:00 PM GMT for a practical webinar exploring how organisations can move from understanding OT cyber risk to taking action.

We’ll cover:
• Why OT cybersecurity requires a different approach to traditional IT security
• Why asset discovery and visibility are the foundations of effective OT security

Today, 27th August, marks Richard Wood's retirement from FAIRFIELDS.

Richard joined FAIRFIELDS as a Project Manager and has since played an important role in delivering several of our projects.

Over the past two years, he has brought a wealth of project management experience to the team, working closely with colleagues, customers and project partners to help keep projects moving and support their successful delivery.

He has made a real contribution during his time at FAIRFIELDS and will be missed by those who have worked alongside him.
