The CEA has welcomed Analytics as a new member, adding independent real-world emissions testing expertise to the association's growing technical community.
Emissions Analytics specialises in measuring emissions from non-road mobile machinery using Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS), capturing data from equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, haul trucks, and generators while they work on active sites, not in a laboratory.
That distinction matters. Construction equipment rarely operates under consistent conditions. Machines idle, work under rapidly changing loads and carry out different tasks across a working day. Real-world data from actual operating environments gives manufacturers and fleet owners a more complete picture of how their equipment performs.
The company has previously worked with King's College London on research measuring emissions from around 30 machines across nine equipment types on active construction sites in London, covering pollutants including NOx, CO2 and particulates.
With the sector assessing a range of power solutions, from battery-electric machinery and hydrogen to HVO and increasingly efficient internal combustion engines, independent real-world evidence will play an important role in informing those choices. Emissions Analytics takes a technology-neutral approach, recognising that no single solution is likely to suit every machine or every application.
