Excuse me pps but I'm going to have a rant on this platform.
I earn my living as a photographer and I find it quite insulting when I'm asked to shoot an event for free or to make a contribution from sales of pictures taken at an event. I don't see or hear anyone asking the bar to provide free drinks or for a contribution from the sales.
Photographers provide a service and like other service providers, we accept to be paid. If I personally choose to shoot an individual or event for free, that's my prerogative.
I've had people come up to me and ask for their 'free' picture, because someone they know has one.
Sorry pps, but please respect our profession. Many of us have spent years developing our skills and investing in equipment to deliver a first class service where it's needed.
So if you're thinking of contacting me to photograph your event please know that I'm going to charge you a fair price for the work.
That said, do look out for my 'give back' days, which I will be announcing next year.
