Introducing the new ZM223 Checkweigher from Avery Weigh-Tronix. This new Torsion based platform scale makes identifying the correct weight easy by displaying different colours on the ZM223 indicator screen.

On Wednesday, we marked GT's birthday at our UK manufacturing facility in Smethwick. GT has been a partner of Avery Weigh-Tronix since 1977, coming up to 50 years in partnership next year and a legend in the US weighing and measurement industry in his own right.

GT was joined by his wife Lynn and by Bobby Feigler, CEO of Michelli Weighing & Measurement and his wife Jeanne. ITW Group President Lance Read, ITW Financial Controller Andy Barwood, and Avery Weigh-Tronix Financial Controller Sam Goodall also joined us for the day.

Michelli Weighing & Measurement was founded in 1947 by GT's parents, G.T. Michelli Sr. and Amy; GT himself joined the business as a teenager in 1951 and helped build it into one of the largest weighing and measurement providers in the US. Find out more about https://www.michelli.com/

Avery's own story goes back over 200 years and today we still call home the Soho Foundry, built in 1795 by Matthew Boulton and James Watt, a site Andrew Lound, a historian and former curator of the Avery Historical Museum, brought to life for the group.

Then came the cake: a truck on an Avery truck scale, complete with Avery and Michelli branding.

Andy Fox, our Vice President / General Manager, led the group on a tour of the site afterwards, with a particular focus on our production area, where they saw our products, our processes, and some of the innovation coming to market soon.

Maintaining a partnership for close to 50 years isn't easy. It takes:

As South Asian Heritage Month draws to a close, we are proud to keep celebrating the people who make Avery Weigh-Tronix what it is.

🏆 This week we are shining a light on Chanchal Dagar, an Assistant HR Manager at Avery India.

For Chanchal, South Asian heritage is about staying connected to her culture, the beliefs, traditions, food and everyday habits that shape who she is and that she carries forward with pride. It is a value set she brings to work every day.

In a role built around people, she leads with respect, empathy and fairness, and works hard to create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Chanchal speaks warmly about Dussehra, the festival of good triumphing over evil and a reminder to always stay on the right path. She also shares a moving memory of her grand maternal aunt, a woman of quiet, selfless kindness who cooked extra food each day for anyone passing by and left water out for people and animals alike.

At Avery Weigh-Tronix,UK our staff are the reason we have thrived for over 200 years so we do our best to show them our appreciation.

Last Thursday on the 16th of July, we brought our teams together for a Staff Appreciation Day. The day started with a “State of the Business” town hall style conference, with presentations from our Commercial Director, Director of Human Resources, Senior Technical Manager and lead by our Human Resource Manager. Subjects consisted of:

📢 Recent sales and service success stories
📢 How to improve our +75 Net Promotors Score
📢 Understand industry needs and a being a brand ambassador
📢 New upcoming product launches

Later in the day another town hall was held for field engineers and remote colleagues, live via Microsoft Teams, so no one missed out.
After the conference was done, then came the fun. The afternoon was packed with games such as:

🏆 Football darts
🏆 Beat the buzzer challenge
🏆 Electric car track racing

A lunch wagon served freshly made gourmet burgers and chips, followed by a choice ice creams scooped onto a cone.

As South Asian Heritage month continues, we are proud to celebrate the people who make Avery Weigh-Tronix the leading provider of industrial weighing solutions.

Meet Shobha Girotra, an Electronics Engineer at Avery India, whose story we are honoured to share.

For Shobha, South Asian heritage is about values, traditions and resilience. It is the wisdom passed down through generations, the respect and perseverance instilled by family, and a deep belief in unity in diversity. Those same values show up every day in how she leads on the production line, meets tough deadlines and lifts the people around her.

She carries forward a powerful example set by her father, a man whose honesty once led him to track down the rightful owner of a bag full of gold ornaments, simply because it was the right thing to do.
