Right now I should be putting the final touches on a few systems at AVA Belfast with Hertz-U Soundsystem.

For the past four years I’ve designed and optimised the soundsystems at AVA and it’s been great. There aren’t many festivals where all the soundsystems are designed to not just provide consistent and clear sound, but also to minimise the bleed between stages. Likewise there are very few festivals where the same person who designs and tunes the main stage also does the smallest stage.

I’ve loved thinking of the sound at the festival as a whole - where every stage is important - rather than as separate independent stages. I also miss working with the crew.

This year was going to be a new venue, a chance to start again and I was very excited. But it’s ok, I’ll do it next year and it’ll be the best yet.

(This video was taken at AVA last year in the warehouse venue. It has possibly one of the longest reverb times on the island. And I’m quite proud of how clear it was at the back of the audience as captured by my iPhone.)

Congratulations to all at New Ross Musical Society. It was an incredible show. One of the last events I worked on before the lockdown so very exciting to see the technical side of the show get nominated for awards.

Very proud to have worked on this with Hertz-U Soundsystem. It’s a really interesting challenge designing sound systems to be intelligible at 200 meters with no option for delay hangs.

Thrilled to be asked back to We Out Here 2020. Last year was incredible. It’s exciting to see more and more events choosing sound quality and sustainability.

I’ve been at We Out Here since Tuesday, optimising sound systems, coordinating RF and working main stage. It’s been Danley on all the stages, honestly I’ve never heard bands sound as good as the ones here on mainstage.

The perfect gig for May the 4th — using our Danley rig to provide the sound for an outdoor screening of Star Wars: A New Hope in Merrion Square with Happenings. And the entire event is being run on solar battery.

Congrats to Skylite Room on receiving the "Live Entertainment Venue of the Year" award (Hospitality Awards, NI). I was impressed the first time I drove to Warrenpoint to tune a soundsystem for Hertz-U Soundsystem at Skylite Room because it was a serious system for such a small venue. But then I was even more impressed when I learned that they were acoustically treating their venue too. This is another example of where the extra attention to detail has paid off and been broadly recognised as a key part in trying to create a memorable and enjoyable entertainment venue. Honoured to have been a part of it - well done again to everyone at Skylite Room. March is one of our busiest months of the year, full of a variety of work around Ireland. Last night we mixed and provided equipment for a “Forget Me Not” fundraising concert at the National Opera House in Wexford. It is an amazing building and we really enjoyed working with such incredible musicians and performers. (Thanks again Tony Carty!)

Nice throwback to last year's AVA. I'm currently building acoustic models and designing soundsystems for this year's AVA festival. Exciting times ahead.

This is the largest Bass Speaker in Ireland. I'm at the fantastic AVA Festival in Belfast. Awesome festival. Great line up. I was invited to speak about the making of Leftism.
