Different covers. Different industries. Same CoverUp Key.

Manhole and inspection covers vary enormously between sectors and countries.

That’s why the CoverUp Key was designed with interchangeable tips.

Choose the tip to suit the cover in front of you, fit it to the same tool, and use the patented slide-hammer action to deliver repeated upward impact from beneath the cover, helping break it free from the frame.

Drainage, telecoms, water, gas, electricity and more.

Designed here in Britain 🇬🇧 the CoverUp Key is now used internationally, with tip configurations developed for different industries and markets around the world.

One tool. Multiple tips. A lot of stubborn covers.

Watch where the impact actually happens. 👀

The CoverUp Key is a slide hammer.

As the bar travels upwards, the fitted tip impacts against the underside of the cover.

That collision is what delivers the repeated upward impact used to help release the cover from its frame.

So the principle isn’t “pull harder”.

It’s repeated impact, delivered at the cover and in the direction the cover needs to move, while the operative can remain in a natural upright working position.

Simple mechanics. Very specific job.

Safe. Efficient. Effective.

When a cover won’t budge, the usual response is often hammering, levering and working around the edges.

The CoverUp Key is designed specifically for that moment.

Its patented slide-hammer action applies repeated upward impact from underneath the cover, helping to break it free before it’s lifted or moved.

With more than 15 interchangeable tips available, the CoverUp Key can be configured to suit different cover types and keyholes across industries and countries around the world.

Experienced operatives know that impact can help loosen a stubborn cover.

The CoverUp Key takes that principle and applies repeated impact from underneath the cover, upwards - directly where you’re trying to create movement.

Once the cover is released, move it using the appropriate method for its weight and the job.

The CoverUp Key deals with the stubborn bit first.

Safe. Efficient. Effective.

A lifting key and a CoverUp Key might go into the same cover, but they’re doing two different jobs.

A standard lifting key relies on steady upward pulling force.

That’s fine when the cover is already free.

But when a cover is seized by grit, corrosion or a tight fit, simply pulling harder isn’t always the most effective way to release it.

The CoverUp Key uses a patented slide-hammer action to create repeated upward impact from underneath the cover, helping break that seal before the cover is lifted and moved.

So it’s not about replacing the lifting key.
It’s about having the right tool for the stubborn cover that won’t release in the first place.

Release first. Lift second.

A standard lifting key relies on pulling upwards against a cover that may still be seized firmly in its frame.

The CoverUp Key tackles the problem differently.

Its patented slide-hammer action delivers repeated upward impact from below the cover, helping to break the seal where grit and corrosion are holding it in place.

The force is applied where it needs to be, in the direction the cover needs to move.
And the same principle is used in our purpose-built Fire Hydrant CoverUp Key, developed in collaboration with the UK Fire & Rescue Service.

There’s a reason experienced operatives reach for a hammer when a cover won’t move.

Impact works.

Hammering around a cover can introduce vibration and help disturb grit and corrosion holding it in place.

The CoverUp Key takes that same useful principle and applies the impact directly from underneath the cover.

Instead of relying on repeated blows around the outside and then trying the lifting key again, the Key is designed to create repeated upward impact against the cover itself.

One of the things we hear most often in our content is:
“That’s not the type of cover we use.”

Quite possibly, because manhole and inspection covers vary enormously between industries and countries.

That’s exactly why the CoverUp Key doesn’t rely on one attachment.

There are interchangeable tips for different cover designs and applications, with tip sets already used across drainage, telecoms, electricity, water, gas and other sectors in multiple international markets.

And the best evidence will always come from the people actually using it day in, day out. 👊
