Our Story popped up as a memory and realised I never actually shared this originally, to our Fiji Relief page, so this is for anyone who didn’t get to see it! This still gives me goosebumps, I would do this again in a heartbeat! So here’s the most amazing experience I’ve ever had in my life!!!

This is one of those great Kiwi tales where a regular New Zealander decides to take on a superhuman challenge.

Hello New Zealand... This fundraiser was the most stressful and hardest thing we have had to do. We are back and had the most amazing time of our lives in Fiji. If you would like to see our journey, our story is first up and will be told at 7pm tonight on TV3 Story. Words can not describe what it was like, but our documented journey showing tonight will say it all for us. Thankyou everyone for helping us.

Finally boarded to Nadi, here we come!! 😁

Hello everyone,

Just 6 days to go. TV3 Story will be with us so make sure you tune into TV3 each night at 7pm as we are not sure what day it will be on. We have raised enough money to build an entire roof for the Tavua Primary School which will be underway this coming Monday.

For Day 1: We have arranged an open like day at the Tavua school, for the 400 students and will be bringing their parents. We are putting on a free sausage sizzle and free fizzy drinks while handing out all the donated clothes, toys and shoes etc.

For Day 2: A few of us (Renee Ryder, Malcolm Ryder and the TV3 crew) will be travelling around a few of the villages and capturing some photos and footage of the disaster and some of the rebuilds going on and also to help where we can. So will definitley keep you all posted on all of this. The others which are Michelle and Jeremy will be visiting the two families in Latoka that helped them out while they were there during the devastion to return the same kindness. We also have 6 boxes of school packs filled with everyday goods that we will be handing out too.

Day 3: We will head back to the school to hear some of the devastating stories these kids would like to share with us, and to check out how the roof is coming along.

Day 4: We will be tallying up how much money we have left from our Fiji fundraiser account and using the remainder of it by purchasing things like stationary or sports equipment etc for the school for one last gift before we head home. If anyone has any ideas on what they think would be a great idea to buy for the school please let us know, as any input helps. We hope there is a bit left so we can purchase quite a few things that would help the students and the school.. Please note everything we are purchasing will be purchased in Fiji. Thanks everyone 😊 Bula Vinaka

P.S We will try to post as many photos as possible. Also we would appreciate it if everyone that sees this could please share this so we can get this out there so everyone can tune in on TV3 to see what we have done 😊 Vinaka

Bula New Zealand..

Myself, Renee Ryder and another amazing woman, (Michelle Gwatkin) will be sending all our kindly donated stuff over to Fiji on the 17th of may thanks to Air New Zealand Cargo and GVI Logistics. We have raised roughly $18,000.00 and will be purchasing building supplies for a school in Tavua/Raki Raki.

We have 5 pellets of school bags full of school supplies and breakfast goodies in them. We have clothes for men, women, kids and babies. Along with shoes, linen, towels and everyday house hold stuff. Some will go to 3 families that had helped Michelle and her partner Jeremy while in Fiji during the horrific cyclone. Over the years of holidaying in Fiji I have got to know a few Fijians and with what little they have, no matter what, they still smile and enjoy their everyday life.

I am so proud to see everyone in New Zealand have pulled together for the Fiji community while we are still getting through our devastating earthquake in christchurch and in other towns/cities of New Zealand. We are a proud and a very giving country and will give what we can and when we can to help out as much as we can no matter what... Just makes me feel so proud to be a Kiwi and be apart of how we can all pull together and get this done!!! Well done guys!!! Vinaka to everyone!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

We are all packed up now. 5 pallets all wrapped up:) Thank you GVI Logistics and Air New Zealand for all your help:)
