Older architects understood the power of partnership. They collaborated, shared resources, and built firms whose legacies still shape our profession today.

Unfortunately, many of us in the younger generation seem to be moving away from that culture. We often prioritize independence, recognition, and personal credit , sometimes at the expense of collaboration. Yet, architecture has never truly been a solo pursuit; it flourishes through the exchange of ideas and shared expertise.

Partnership among architects brings immense value. It allows us to combine strengths, distribute responsibilities, and pursue larger, more ambitious projects. It encourages growth, accountability, and mutual learning — qualities that strengthen both individuals and the profession as a whole.

Perhaps it’s time we reembrace the spirit of partnership, not as a loss of individuality, but as a pathway to greater impact, innovation, and ✍️

Saudi Arabia is planning to build the world's first "sky stadium," officially named the NEOM Stadium, integrated into the futuristic city of The Line. It will be suspended 350 meters (1,150 feet) above the ground.

Featuring 46,000 seats, the stadium will use renewable energy. The stadium is slated to open around 2032 and will host matches, up to the quarterfinals, for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

A new standard is about to be set in Engineering and construction and the world is ready.

COMMON BUILDING MISTAKES THAT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD A HOUSE, READ THIS BEFORE YOU LAY A SINGLE BLOCK.
Many people dream of completing their own home, but along the way they make costly mistakes that silently drain their pocket. These are the hidden errors that can waste hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions, if you don’t pay attention.

The first and biggest mistake is STARTING WITHOUT A PROFESSIONAL DRAWING.
Some people rush to site and tell the bricklayer to “just set the building anyhow.” Without a proper plan from an architect or engineer, you can end up with wrong room sizes, poor ventilation, and a layout that doesn’t even fit your land. The result is demolition, adjustments, and spending double on materials and labour.

The next mistake is IGNORING SOIL TESTS.
Every land has its own strength. If you build without checking the soil type, you might dig a shallow foundation on weak soil which later cracks or sinks. This leads to unexpected repairs, extra reinforcement, or even structural failure that costs far more than a simple soil test at the start.

Another silent money waster is WRONG MATERIAL CALCULATION.
People who don’t calculate the exact number of blocks, bags of cement, or trips of sand often buy too much or too little. Buying too much means wasted money and spoilage of unused materials. Buying too little causes work stoppage, which leads to paying workers for extra days.

Many also fall into the trap of BUYING LOW QUALITY MATERIALS.
Cheap cement, substandard iron rods, or bad sand might look like savings today, but they create weak concrete, cracks, and future renovations that cost more than doing it right the first time.

POOR SUPERVISION is another dangerous mistake.
When no qualified site engineer or supervisor checks the work daily, masons may use the wrong block mixture, skip proper compaction, or waste materials like granite, sand, and cement.

We talk about "building the future."

But the people doing the building are underpaid and overlooked.

Bricklayers earning peanuts.

Plumbers not even provided PPE.

Skilled workers treated like they're lucky to be there. And then we wonder why we can't retain them.

If we want a stronger construction industry,We must start with how we treat the people on the ground.

Training.

Fair pay.

Safety.

Respect.

These things matter.

Because no matter how "big" your firm is, the success of your project still depends on the people mixing concrete under the sun.

💡 Money is powerful, but it’s not everything.
You can buy comfort, luxury, and status — but if your heart and mind are empty, money will never fill that gap.

👉 Happiness is not a product of wealth, it’s a product of mindset.
When you focus on growth, gratitude, and purpose, wealth becomes meaningful.

✨ Remember: A rich life begins with a rich mind.

🔥 Do you agree that happiness comes before money?

When you scale though the foundation stage, trust me when I say is now easier 💜✍️

The next stage that will cost you ( bulk) much again if it’s a bungalow is the roofing ✅

If you scale through the roofing then you can gradually finish it ✅

If it’s a duplex then if you scale the foundation the next stage that would cost you bulk much again is the decking ✅

If you are building a bungalow just focus on the foundation and after you get it done, your gradual little input can raise the structure to lintel then last block course level ✅

After that you now plan better and come back for the roofing, I will advise you save for the roofing wood work and sheet at same time to avoid exposing the wood work for so long ✅

If you get the roofing done trust me you can now finish gradually ✍️

It seems hard but it’s achievable if you understand it ✅

20 years of experience Engineering: Many times on site, we hear contractors say:

"Sir, I've been doing this for 20 years, I don't need drawings."

Know this today, engineering is about precision, not assumption. One wrong bar placement can cost lives, not just money.

That's why structural drawings are not optional - they are the foundation of safe construction.

They ensure every beam, slab, and column is built exactly as designed to carry loads safely.

Construction is not about guesswork -

Drawings ensure safety.

Design ensures durability.

Ex*****on without engineering is gambling with lives.

I've seen this mindset too often, and it's risky.

Drawings and codes are not just paperwork - they are life safety documents.

Engineering drawings exist to ensure safety, not to challenge experience.

Experience is valuable, but without design, it's incomplete.

Have you faced this situation on site? How did you deal with it?
