This week a customer set us a challenge, make one of the most unreliable and worst designed turbochargers ever made, into an all conquering high boost savage.
We didn't just put some bigger wheels inside, make it all shiney and new, and then return a gr***de waiting to happen back to the customer like most turbo workshops would do. Here we do proper engineering.
The challenge was simple, make a hybrid turbocharger capable of producing more than 200ps, that fits in the place of the original turbocharger, without having to compromise on reliability or functionality. The engine is a 1.6 HDi from Citroen/Peugeot that's used in many different brands of vehicle from Ford to Volvo. Difficulty level.....99/100. No problem at all!

Dynamic testing shows the turbocharger capable of producing more than 250ps with the correct supporting modifications. There was no increase in spool up time over the original turbocharger at the same exhaust gas flow, so in other words there has been no increase in turbo lag what so ever.
The water cooled bearing housing not only improves turbocharger performance, but it also prevents heat induced carbon deposit build up around the bearings, which is one of the many failure points that plague the original turbocharger.
Compressor housing slip-on connections for the intercooler and induction system, make the upgrade of these systems far easier than the fl**ge style connection of the original part.
The exhaust system connections are exactly as they were originally, making it a simple and cost effective upgrade, while vastly improving the power potential of the engine.
