Lukáš Landa leads the daily operations of our first hub in Benátky nad Jizerou, Czech Republic. As Plant Manager, he oversees the entire process of transforming scrap material into valuable new input material.

He is responsible not only for keeping the hub running efficiently but also for continuously improving the processes that drive our operations forward. Lukáš has been part of the SATURNIN® project since 2019, contributing to its development from early stages to today’s operational reality.

50% of steel is scrapped during car body manufacturing.

Most of these cut-offs are immediately treated as scrap, melted down and recycled.

But not every piece of scrap needs to go back to the furnace and be melted. Many of these pieces can be effectively reused by SATURNIN®.

If SATURNIN® reused just 1% of global vehicle production scrap, it would equal 300,000 tons of primary steel that would not need to be produced.

We had the honour of welcoming the Governor of the Central Bohemian Region, Petra Pecková, together with the Mayor of Benátky nad Jizerou, Karel Bendl and their delegation, to our SATURNIN® pilot hub in Benátky nad Jizerou.

During the visit, we introduced our concept of repurposing industrial steel scrap into high-value input material; demonstrating how “Reuse before recycle” can deliver measurable cost savings and significant CO₂ reduction for the automotive and manufacturing industries.

The delegation had the opportunity to:

- See real post-industrial scrap streams and the products that can be created from them

- Visit our cutting line and operational workflow

- Discuss upcoming technological developments and future expansion projects

The meeting concluded with an open discussion about our long-term vision and the value SATURNIN® brings to the Central Bohemian Region, ranging from advanced manufacturing and circular innovation to skilled job creation and international industrial cooperation.

SATURNIN® is about the people behind it and, of course, our customers. Without them, there would be no story and no progress at all.

Let us introduce one of the key people from our team. Jakub Šrot (CEO) was the first to start working on SATURNIN® from the very beginning. He has been at the helm since day one, defining what it truly means to build a reuse system, setting a long-term vision and showing the direction that turns ideas into real, functioning solutions.

Projects move forward because people do, and this project has a true captain on board.

Jakub on SATURNIN®:

At the very beginning, there is chaos.

Irregular cut-offs. Different dimensions, thicknesses, grades. Thousands of pieces and even more data.

For SATURNIN®, this is daily bread and the first step in identifying reusable scrap.

We gather, sort and structure information about each scrap piece to determine what can be reused through purely mechanical reprocessing. To make this possible at scale, we developed our own in-house scanning device. It transforms any 2D irregular cut-off into precise digital geometry, enabling accurate match-making with real input material requirements.

This gives us a clear picture of:

which scrap can be reused immediately once a match is found, and

which scrap remains stored digitally if no match is found yet, ready for reuse later.

Once the data is collected, SATURNIN® continuously searches for matches every time new input requirements are uploaded. Scrap doesn’t disappear, it waits for the right opportunity.

SATURNIN® brings a new way of thinking about steel cut-offs as valuable input material ready for one more life.

The entire system is developed in-house.

Another day, another great occasion!

This time, we had the privilege to be part of Škoda Auto GreenWeek – an internal event focused on smart projects with environmental impact.

Jakub spoke about the importance of close cooperation between Škoda Auto and its supply chain, shared several of our achievements and outlined the goals we aim to reach together next year.

Together with other excellent guests from Škoda Auto and various partner companies, the event created a unique space full of smart people, ideas, and solutions that keep pushing the industry forward.
