1. Core Differences in Movement
- Turning: The workpiece rotates at high speed around its own axis, and the cutting tool performs a feed movement along the axial/radial direction of the workpiece.
- Milling: The cutting tool rotates at high speed around its own axis, and the workpiece performs a feed movement along with the worktable.

2. Machining Objects and Shapes
- Turning: Suitable for machining rotational parts. It can complete the machining of outer circles, inner holes , threads , and end faces.
- Milling: More suitable for machining non-rotational parts. It can also machine local features of rotational parts, such as keyways on shaft parts and flat surfaces on disk parts.

3. Machining Efficiency and Precision
- Turning: It has high efficiency in machining rotational parts, achieves good control over surface roughness , and is suitable for mass continuous machining.
- Milling: It offers strong flexibility in machining complex-shaped parts. With multi-edge cutting tools, the cutting process is more uniform; however, its efficiency is lower than that of turning when machining rotational parts in batches.

The main differences between five-axis CNC machine tools and ordinary CNC machine tools are as follows:
Number of axes and motion: Ordinary machine tools generally have 3 axes and move along straight lines; five-axis machine tools have 5 motion axes and can rotate around two rotation axes in addition to moving linearly.
Machining complexity: Ordinary machine tools are suitable for simple shapes; five-axis machine tools can machine complex curved surfaces and special-shaped parts.
Machining efficiency: Ordinary machine tools need multiple setups to machine complex parts; five-axis machine tools can complete multi-face machining with one setup, resulting in higher efficiency.
Machining accuracy: Multiple setups of ordinary machine tools will cause errors; five-axis machine tools reduce the number of setups and thus have higher accuracy.
Programming difficulty: Programming for ordinary machine tools is relatively simple; five-axis machine tools require professional software and technicians.
Equipment cost: Five-axis machine tools have a complex structure, and their price and maintenance cost are higher.
