Yaskawa Robot Error Analysis & Solution — 0340 “Main Program Ex*****on Prohibited by Setting”

When the Yaskawa robot teach pendant displays:
0340: “Main Program Ex*****on Prohibited by Setting”
Cause of the Error
In Play Mode, robots are typically started using the reservation start function or the teach pendant start button.
During this process, program selection is generally not changed from the teach pendant.

This alarm usually occurs when:
No program has been selected as the main program before startup
The operator attempts to call the main program directly from:
[Program Content] → [Main Program]
without switching the robot mode
Solution

First, press the [Cancel] button in the alarm window to reset the alarm.
Then, there are two possible solutions:
Method 1
Switch the teach pendant to Teach Mode
Select the main program under:
[Program Content] → [Main Program]
Then switch back to Play Mode
Method 2
Switch the teach pendant to Teach Mode
Go to:
[Setup] → [Backstep Condition Setting] → [Play Mode Main Program Call]
Change the setting to: [Allow]
Tips
If the settings mentioned above are not visible, please switch the system mode to:
Safety Mode, or
Management Mode

🤖 Yaskawa Robot Home Position Setup | Step-by-Step Gui
The home position setting screen is only available when the system is inSafety Mode: Management Mode.
If the home position data is already known (usually labeled inside the controller cabinet door), you can directly input it under:
[Robot] → [Home Position]to restore the absolute data.

If the absolute data is unknown, follow these steps:
1. Select [Robot] from the main menu
2. The submenu will be displayed
3. Select [Home Position]
4. Select the control axis group
5. External axes can be set in the same way. Use the [Display] option in the top menu to select the target axis group
• Register each axis individually Use the axis operation keys injoint coordinate modeto align the axis reference marks
• Move the cursor to the target axis and select it to display the confirmation dialog
Select“Yes”
– The current value of the axis will be registered as the home position data
– Repeat the same procedure for the remaining axes

🤖 Yaskawa Robot Home Position Creation
🌟 What is the Home Position?
Home position calibration is the process of aligning the robot’s physical position with the encoder data.
The home position is calibrated at the factory before delivery.
🌟However, recalibration is required in the following situations:
•When replacing the robot and controller (YRC1000) combination
•When replacing the motor or encoder
•When memory data is lost (e.g., AIF01-1E board replacement, battery depletion)
•When the robot collides with a workpiece, causing deviation from the original position
To create the home position, use theaxis operation keysto adjust the robot posture so that each axis aligns with its corresponding reference mark.

What Is Start Point Detection in Yaskawa Robots?
Recently, a customer asked us:
“What is start point detection, and when should it be used?”
Start point detection is a function that allows the robot to automatically locate the actual welding start point before welding begins.

In robotic welding, even small deviations in part positioning or assembly can lead to inaccurate welding start points.
Before arc ignition, the robot uses the welding wire or sensor to detect the workpiece position.
Once the correct start point is identified, the robot adjusts its position and begins welding.

Why Use It?
Improves welding start accuracy
Reduces manual adjustment
Minimizes defects caused by misalignment
Enhances overall process stability

🤖 Yaskawa MH12 Alarm 1326 & 1325 – Troubleshooting Case
Client Project Troubleshooting:
During production with a Yaskawa DX200 / MH12, the following alarms occurred:
B-axis Alarm 1326: Encoder absolute data error
B-axis Alarm 1325: Encoder communication error
Prompt: Check position [R1]
Restart could not clear the alarm.
Cause: Communication failure between encoder components, resulting in abnormal data feedback.
Troubleshooting Direction:Axis board, Cables, Motor
Action Take: Checked alarm history for intermittent or fixed-point faults.
If the alarm can be cleared after restart, cable issues are likely.
Final Result: The issue was identified as a B-axis motor failure. After replacing the motor, the fault was resolved.
