LONKEY, A Mother's Bet on the Next Ten Years
2019. Qingyuan, China. The world is about to shut down, but Guo Senlang, founder of what would become LONMAY, sees something others don't.
He walks away from the safety of working for someone else and starts on his own, betting everything on a small operation in a 4,000-square-meter tin-roofed shed. Within months, the pandemic arrives. Supply chains break, factories stall, and for many, the timing looks like the worst possible moment to bring something new into the world. Guo Senlang keeps building anyway. That decision becomes LONMAY, born into crisis, raised by hand.
A mother does not stop at raising one child. Ten years on, LONMAY is no longer just finding its own footing, it is strong enough to carry a second one. Today, Guangdong LONKEY New Material Co., Ltd. broke ground on a new polymer film materials manufacturing project, built right beside the mother who bore it.
She measures her new steps carefully. The land beneath her runs 17,062.66 square meters, and the frame rising on it will spread across 30,000 square meters, built up in two phases so she does not grow faster than she can carry. The mother puts RMB 220 million behind her, RMB 110 million just for the first phase, the kind of sum a parent commits without flinching. She is due to stand on her own by May 2027, and by July that year, she will start to work.
Once she is fully grown, she will produce 70,000 tons of new polymer film materials a year, bring in more than RMB 500 million in sales, and pay RMB 20 million in tax, proof that a mother's investment was never wasted.
LONKEY is not a separate story from LONMAY, it is what a decade of the mother's growth makes possible, and it is expected to bring new momentum to industrial clustering and real economy growth in Heyun Town, Qingxin District, and the wider Qingyuan Economic Development Zone.
A decade ago, one man bet on a child nobody else could see yet. Today, that child is old enough to have one of her own.
