The main factors to measure the quality of spherical graphite

Graphite packing, a highly resistant sealant, is widely used in various industries due to its high chemical resistance, excellent lubricity, and superior thermal conductivity. It is applied to both static valve stems and moving joints in systems with watertight mechanical parts, including valves, faucets, and stuffing boxes.

The manufacturing process involves twisting large numbers of graphite filaments together to form a “yarn”. This yarn is then braided for increased tensile strength and durability, coated with agents like PTFE for enhanced chemical resistance, and finally treated with blocking agents to seal the filaments and boost the overall sealing ability of the packing.

Graphite packing is renowned for its resistance to chemicals and extremely high temperatures, making it ideal for industries that process acids and oils, such as the fuel, chemical, and gas industries. Its durability and self-lubricating properties reduce machinery maintenance costs and provide excellent protection to valves, making it a preferred choice for efficient sealing.

This packing is extensively used in high temperature and pressure environments, including refineries, paper and pulp mills, petrochemical plants, power plants, and wastewater treatment facilities. It is suitable for a range of equipment, from control and block valves to soot blowers, agitators, mixers, and various types of pumps.

Hifounder offers a range of pure graphite compression packing styles that are self-lubricating, dimensionally stable, impervious to gases and fluids, and corrosion-resistant. These packings are recommended for applications requiring self-lubrication and where temperatures exceed 250°C / 482°F. They are particularly suited for dynamic sealing of centrifugal pumps for water, petroleum derivatives, and other chemicals under conditions of high speed and high pressures. The operating parameters are T max 450°C, pH 0 – 14, and VL 40 m/s.
The base graphite for these packings has a very low coefficient of friction, high thermal conductivity, and sliding velocity. It remains soft and pliant even under high temperature and pressure conditions, offering excellent resistance to chemicals.
