Graphite is a cornerstone material for mechanical seals due to its self-lubricity, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance. However, its performance varies significantly based on manufacturing methods. Machined graphite (cut from molded graphite blocks) and hot-pressing graphite (formed under high temperature and pressure) exhibit distinct properties that influence their suitability for specific sealing environments.
In our mechanical seals products, we use machined graphite instead of hot-pressing graphite. Sometimes customers question why our pricing is higher than our peers, it's because we use a more suitable machined graphite (which costs more than hot-pressing graphite).
