I. The working processes of reversible mills and continuous mills differ
Reversible mills are capable of operating in both forward and reverse directions, allowing the metal plate to be repeatedly rolled back and forth multiple times. After one rolling cycle is completed, the metal plate is returned to the entry point for further rolling, which can improve rolling efficiency and product quality to a certain extent. The rolls of a reversible mill feature two sets of beveled rolls, significantly increasing the service life of the rolls and enabling the rolling of thin-walled and special-shaped steel profiles.
Continuous mills involve passing the metal plate through multiple sets of rolls in sequence, maintaining the continuous operation of the mill to achieve a production line-style workflow. Compared to reversible mills, continuous mills can roll the raw material for an extended period, achieving efficient mass production. However, they are not capable of rolling certain special-shaped steel profiles.
II. The advantages and disadvantages of reversible mills and continuous mills are different
Reversible mills can roll metal plates with significant thickness variations, offering superior rolling precision and finished product quality compared to continuous mills. Continuous mills, due to their continuous production line operation, have high production efficiency, especially when manufacturing large steel profiles. However, the equipment cost for continuous mills is high, and they are more challenging to maintain, whereas reversible mills are relatively easier to maintain.
III. The applications of reversible mills and continuous mills differ
Reversible mills are primarily used for the cold and hot rolling of steel, non-ferrous metals, and light metals, as well as for processes such as cold drawing, bending, and stamping. They are suitable for high-precision rolling production and the manufacturing of special-shaped steel profiles. Continuous mills are widely used in large steel mills and metal plate processing factories, particularly in the steel manufacturing industry.
