fall under the category of thin-walled light to medium-sized products. This range is mainly produced through cold bending of hot-rolled/cold-rolled galvanized steel strip and then high-frequency welding, or by first forming the material and subsequently applying hot-dip galvanizing.
Product Features
• Excellent Corrosion Resistance: The surface zinc coating (hot-dip galvanized ≥20–275 g/m²) forms a protective barrier. Zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, preferentially corroding and effectively isolating air and moisture. Service life in typical outdoor environments can reach 10–25 years or even longer (far exceeding ordinary square tubes), with excellent salt spray test performance. Suitable for humid, outdoor, or mildly corrosive environments.
• Lightweight and Strength Balance: Thin wall thickness results in light weight, facilitating handling, installation, and transportation. The square cross-section provides good bending and torsional stability and a certain load-bearing capacity, suitable for medium to low load structures. Strength varies with side length and material.
• Good Processing Performance: Easy to cut, weld, punch, and bend. The surface can be further powder-coated or treated, resulting in a relatively smooth appearance (hot-dip galvanizing may cause slight zinc spangle).
• Economical and Practical: Lower cost than stainless steel, requires less maintenance, and offers high cost-effectiveness; the thin-walled design saves material while meeting strength requirements. • Other: Hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing differ – hot-dip galvanizing results in a thicker zinc layer and stronger weather resistance (preferred for outdoor use), while electro-galvanizing produces a smoother but thinner layer (more suitable for indoor or decorative applications). Wide range of specifications are available, and custom lengths are possible.
Main Application Areas
These thin-walled galvanized square tubes are widely used due to their excellent corrosion resistance, light weight, and ease of processing, especially suitable for medium-to-low load applications requiring weather resistance:
• Building and Steel Structures: Curtain wall/glass curtain wall joists and supports, lightweight steel structure frames, roof trusses, temporary sheds/supports, door and window frames, stair handrails, balcony railings, etc. Larger side lengths of thin-walled tubes can be used for lightweight columns or non-load-bearing components.
• Photovoltaics and New Energy: Solar power generation brackets, photovoltaic module frames (high wind resistance and weather resistance requirements, commonly 30×30–50×50 mm thin-walled specifications).
• Agricultural Facilities: Greenhouse frames, agricultural machinery frames (lightweight + wind and snow resistance/weather resistance, 20–50 mm side lengths are common).
• Municipal and Transportation Facilities: Highway/residential area guardrails, fences, street light/signpost supports, platform frames, airport-related structures, etc. • Machinery manufacturing and industry: Equipment frames, conveyor belt supports, warehouse racks, guardrails, light mechanical structures; some automotive chassis or related components.
• Others: Shipbuilding auxiliary structures, power/power plant facilities, home furnishings (shelves, etc.), billboard supports, logistics equipment, etc.
Small sizes (smaller side length +1.2–1.5 mm) are more suited for decoration, fencing, racking, and sheds; medium to large sizes (side length + close to 2.0 mm) are more suited for supports and light frames.
