A highly accurate receiver has limited value if it is monitoring the wrong location.

The goal is not to install more equipment.

When Does an Open-Pit Mine Slope Need Continuous Monitoring?

A mine slope can change between two inspections.

Regular surveying remains an important part of slope management.

But if the project needs to understand:

📍 When movement starts
📈 Whether movement is continuing
⏱️ How conditions change over time

periodic measurements may not provide enough visibility.

For some areas, automated monitoring can provide more continuous information.

GNSS is one option for continuous displacement monitoring at selected locations.

But the first question should not be:

“Do we need GNSS?”

It should be:

“How much monitoring continuity does this project require?”

The monitoring need comes first. The technology comes second.
