Industry News of Ball Bearings, Pumps & Motors Weekly Updates
NTN: NTN celebrated its 100th anniversary in March 2018.
SKF:
On 31st July 2018, SKF has signed an agreement to divest its linear and actuation technology business to Triton. The divestment announced today is part of the Group’s efforts to focus on its core business and value propositions around the rotating shaft. In total, these divestments have now raised approximately SEK 6.7 billion.
On July 23rd, SKF announced the introduction of SKF Ultrasonic Leak Detector TKSU 10, designed for using in noisy industrial environments, simple to operate, this device utilizes ultrasonic technology to locate leaks in compressed air or vacuum systems, features a convinient LED display, helping the user to optimise leak detection and supporting quantification of leakage.
Calpeda:
Bearing life is a key aspect on the reliablity of the pump, the purpose of ball bearings is mainly to support the whole load of the shaft line and also withstand the axial thrust for the rotor. Pump manufacturers usually guarantee that their bearings will last for 15,000 hours of pump operation, Calpeda, however , equip its pumps with bearings that are sized to reach 20,000 hours. Pumps with oversized bearings operate better, especially in hot environments, because the risk of ball bearing overheating is much lower. Attention to sustainbability led Calpeda to consider the question of energy consumption also in this case. Calpeda has been working together with SKF, the ball bearing company , on energy efficiency tied to reduced pressure drops, transforming it into a production standard. In this manner, even though bearings are bigger, consumption does not increase and the optimal result of blending a longer-lasting product with energy efficiency can be obtainer.
Leroy Somer:
New Commander ID300 motor drive: regulation is controlled by means of an external sensor (0-10V or 4-20mA) independently powered by the Commander ID300 and an integrated PID controller, Commander ID300 automatically adjusts the pump flow rate according to actual need and manages pump shutdown when required. It can be configured to detect loss of prime and can provide notification of the operation statuses (auto-start, maximum flow, loss of prime, sensor fault,etc.). This function is ready-to-use. Commander ID300 is equipped with a display that can be personalised and provide views of application data in real-time(temperature, volume, flow rate, pressure, tec.). And for low-speed pump technologies, Commander ID300 can be associated with Leroy-Somer geared motors for adjusting the application torque. The robust drive system is insensitive to liquid splashes(IP55 rating) and vibrations (electronics moulded in resin), and supports an ambient temperature of up to 50°C. It is designed to operate in all domains of industry, irrigation, building and the environment.
