💡 Tech Note: Control Arm Ball Joint — Torque Specs
Ball joints don't fail because of the part. They fail because of the installation.
When the castle nut is hammered with an impact gun instead of a torque wrench, it destroys the internal bearing
preload. The result: premature play, clunking, and joint failure — usually within weeks.
The part gets blamed. But the part is fine.
✅ Installation guide included with every JW 4X4 control arm:
• Torque spec: 85-100 Nm (model-dependent)
• Castle nut: tighten to alignment — NOT maximum torque
• Cotter pin: replace every time
• Grease fitting: 3 full pumps post-install
Our control arms ship with this guide in every box. Zero ball joint warranty claims from customers who followed it.
Same factory batch. Same QC. The only thing that changed was how it was installed.
