Improvements to the Lubrication of Steel Wire Ropes on the South-to-North Water Diversion Project’s Outflow Gates: U.LUBE High-Adhesion Lubricating Protective Spray
The winch steel cables at the South-to-North Water Diversion Project’s discharge gates have low equipment uptime and are only used during periodic maintenance. Currently, lubrication involves a mixture of standard lithium-based grease and engine oil. Application method: manual brushing; lubrication cycle: once every 3 months on average; existing issues: grease drips in summer, dries out easily in winter, and the steel cables remain relatively dirty;
After using U.LUBE ET ALPLEX 16M SPRAY High-Adhesion Lubricating Protective Spray for over three months, the lubricant maintained good lubricity, with a consistent oil film covering the wire rope surface and no change in the lubricant’s properties; no dripping occurred, and the lubricant effectively penetrated the interior of the wire rope. The wire rope received excellent lubrication and protection, with no abnormal wear, effectively extending the lubrication maintenance cycle.
