We’re at Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) Annual Conference today, connecting with peers across the water sector and sharing what we’ve been working on.

If you’re attending, you can catch Charlotte Creron and Jordan Ge**er presenting and contributing to conversations around wastewater solutions that are practical, sustainable, and grounded in real community needs.

For us, it’s not just about presenting, it’s about listening, learning, and working together to move things forward. If you’re here, come say hello. To know more, visit: https://weao.org/

This winter, our teams connected with students across several post-secondary campuses, sharing what engineering looks like in practice and what it can achieve for communities.

Through career fairs, workshops, and conversations, we focused on three things: hiring emerging talent, mentoring the next generation, and opening the door to meaningful careers in consulting engineering.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to meet our teams, ask questions, and explore what’s possible.

We are looking forward to being at Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) Technical Symposium & OPCEA Exhibition , a space where people come together to share what’s working, ask better questions, and move the industry forward.

At CIMA+, we see this as an opportunity to connect with peers and keep building solutions that support healthier, more sustainable communities.

A couple of sessions from our team to keep on your radar:
Jordan Ge**er will be sharing work from the Town of Smiths Falls, exploring practical approaches to sludge management, with a focus on what works for smaller and local communities.

🕚April 13 | 11 AM
Charlotte Creron will present “To ozonate or not to ozonate”, drawing from a pilot project in Cobourg and what it means for wastewater treatment moving forward.

🕚 April 14 | 1:30–2:00 PM
We are looking forward to connecting with you! Check more details at: https://weao.org/

In many Atlantic Canadian communities, heritage buildings are part of everyday life.

They are the town halls at the center of civic life, the waterfront structures that have witnessed generations of activity, and the historic properties that continue to shape local identity.

Across the region, there are thousands of these heritage buildings, each with its own story and significance. But these buildings were not designed for today’s climate realities, and this is where engineering becomes a bridge between past and future.

Stronger storms, rising sea levels and changing temperatures are increasing the need to adapt these buildings while maintaining the character that makes these places meaningful.
At CIMA+, we support and advise clients in assessing existing buildings and developing retrofit solutions that improve resilience and energy performance, while respecting their original design.

By adapting what already exists, we help ensure these buildings continue to serve communities today and into the future.

Rail electrification is gaining momentum across Canada, but how will climate change affect its long-term performance and resilience?

Environmental stresses on Canada’s transportation infrastructure are intensifying, and railway electrification infrastructure (REI) systems are no exception. These systems rely on complex electrical components that are sensitive to temperature extremes, ice, wind, flooding and other climate-related events.

CIMA+ contributed to a CSA Group research report assessing how climate change may impact REI in Canada. We evaluated the adequacy of existing codes and standards and identified opportunities to better integrate climate resilience into future standardization.

Integrating climate adaptation into infrastructure planning is becoming essential for long-term performance. This research supports infrastructure owners, operators and decision-makers as they advance rail decarbonization and build resilient, future-ready networks.
