How can a waterfront trail be protected from evolving climate risks?

In St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the waterfront trail is much more than a recreational space: it is a community asset directly exposed to the impacts of climate change.

CIMA+ supported the municipality in assessing the trail’s climate vulnerability and developing adaptation strategies to address risks such as coastal flooding and erosion.

By combining climate projections, multidisciplinary expertise, and local knowledge, the team developed a roadmap to guide future investments and strengthen the resilience of this important community asset.

Comment protéger un sentier riverain face à des risques climatiques qui évoluent?

À St. Stephen, le sentier riverain est bien plus qu’un espace récréatif : c’est un actif communautaire directement exposé aux effets des changements climatiques.

CIMA+ a accompagné la municipalité pour évaluer la vulnérabilité climatique de son sentier riverain et définir des stratégies d’adaptation face notamment aux inondations côtières et à l’érosion.

En combinant projections climatiques, expertise multidisciplinaire et connaissance locale, l’équipe a établi une feuille de route pour orienter les investissements futurs et renforcer la résilience de cet important actif communautaire.

Golf, sunshine, and plenty of new and familiar faces made for a great day at the BILD Edmonton Metro Summer Golf Classic.

Brian Murray, Kairi Pawlina, and Tarek Van Doorne welcomed golfers at our sponsored hole, while Sara Sherman and Glen Campbell joined Stuart Carlyle from the City of Edmonton and Jody Hancock from Parkland County out on the course.

Building stronger communities starts with meaningful connections.

CIMA+ was pleased to sponsor a tee box at the 7th Annual Mayor's Charity Golf Classic in the The City of Airdrie, supporting an event that brings people together while raising funds for local community initiatives.

From a cool morning start to a warm afternoon on the course, the day was filled with great conversations, new connections, and plenty of energy. Participants fully embraced the event's rock and roll theme, including one unforgettable 80s heavy metal look, making for a fun and memorable atmosphere.

Our team enjoyed welcoming golfers at the CIMA+ tee box, reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new ones, and spending time with colleagues throughout the day.

Cet été, alors que Toronto accueillait des visiteurs du monde entier à titre de ville hôte de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Waterfront Toronto a présenté Global Convenience, une œuvre d'art public flottante qui réinvente l'un des éléments les plus emblématiques de la vie urbaine : le dépanneur de quartier.

Véritables carrefours de produits, de langues, de cultures et de traditions, ces commerces de proximité sont des lieux de rencontre qui contribuent au tissu social de nos communautés. Installé dans le bassin Harbour Square, un environnement totalement inattendu, Global Convenience invite le public à redécouvrir cet espace familier sous un nouveau regard.

Le site d'installation, au cœur du secteur riverain, a influencé autant l'expérience des visiteurs que la conception de l'œuvre. Afin d'être prête pour le début de la Coupe du Monde, celle-ci devait être installée rapidement sur une fondation flottante et un système d'ancrage capables de résister aux conditions du milieu marin.
En collaboration avec les artistes Trevor Wheatly et Cosmo Dean ainsi que Puncture Design, dans le cadre d'une initiative soutenue par Waterfront Toronto, CIMA+ a mis à profit son expertise en génie maritime et en structure pour concevoir la fondation flottante et le système d'ancrage qui ont rendu cette installation possible.
Des projets comme celui-ci démontrent comment l'ingénierie peut contribuer à créer des espaces publics dynamiques qui rassemblent les communautés. Ne manquez pas l'occasion de découvrir Global Convenience avant le mois d'octobre, dans le cadre du programme annuel d'art public flottant de Waterfront Toronto.

A convenience store floating in Toronto’s Inner Harbour?

This summer, as Toronto welcomed visitors from around the world as a FIFA World Cup host city, Waterfront Toronto brought Global Convenience to the harbour, a floating public artwork that reimagines one of the most recognizable elements of city life: the neighbourhood convenience store.

As crossroads for products, languages, cultures and traditions, these familiar hubs serve as meaningful sites of community connection. Floating in the Harbour Square Basin—an entirely unfamiliar setting—Global Convenience invites viewers to see this everyday space as if for the first time.

The waterfront setting for the artwork underpins the viewer experience, but it also shaped the piece’s design and materials. To be in place for the start of the World Cup, the artwork had to be installed quickly, with a foundation and anchoring system that would withstand water and weather conditions. CIMA+CIMA+ working alongside artists Trevor Wheatly and Cosmo Dean in collaboration with Puncture Design, on a Waterfront Toronto-supported initiative, provided the marine and structural engineering expertise to make it possible.

Our recent Speed Mentoring event at our Oakville office, hosted by Lakeland (now part of CIMA+), brought together experienced professionals and aspiring talent for meaningful conversations about career development, commercial management, and the skills needed to succeed in Canada's engineering and construction industries.

These conversations go beyond networking. They help participants gain practical insights into the opportunities and challenges of our industry while giving mentors the opportunity to share their experiences, learn from diverse perspectives and help shape the next generation.

Chez CIMA+, nous collaborons avec des organisations comme ACCES Employment, ainsi qu'avec de nombreux groupes communautaires partout au Canada, qui accompagnent les professionnels dans le développement de leur carrière. Ensemble, nous créons des occasions pour que des leaders d'expérience de notre industrie échangent avec les talents de demain, contribuant ainsi à renforcer notre secteur d’activité et les communautés où nous vivons et travaillons.

Notre plus récent événement de mentorat éclair (Speed Mentoring), qui s’est tenu à notre bureau d'Oakville et organisé par Lakeland (faisant maintenant partie de CIMA+), a réuni des professionnel-le-s chevronné-e-s et des talents émergents pour des discussions enrichissantes sur le développement de carrière, la gestion commerciale et les compétences essentielles pour réussir dans les secteurs canadiens de l’ingénierie et de la construction.

Ces échanges vont bien au-delà du réseautage. Ils permettent aux participant-e-s de recueillir des conseils sur les possibilités et les défis de notre industrie, tout en offrant aux mentor-e-s l'occasion de partager leur expérience et de contribuer au développement de la prochaine génération de professionnel-le-s.

Quelle mobilisation exceptionnelle pour le Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau 2026, de la Fondation Charles-Bruneau! 🚴

Grâce à l’engagement de nos employé·es et de nos donateurs, l’équipe CIMA+ a récolté un montant record de 125 982 $, incluant une commandite de 15 000 $ de CIMA+.

Ensemble, les participants et donateurs de cette édition ont permis d’amasser un montant net de 4,05 M$ pour soutenir les enfants atteints de cancer et leur famille.

Merci à toutes les personnes qui ont contribué à ce remarquable élan de solidarité. Rendez-vous en 2027 pour aller encore plus loin!
