The PLAEX family has lost a true friend and partner.

We are deeply saddened to share the recent passing of Bob Cain. To us, Bob was much more than the founder of Eco-Train—he was a constant source of inspiration and a genuine friend to our entire team.

Bob’s dedication to the environment directly shaped our products, as the materials he supplied are a core part of our eco-blocks. He was always one of our biggest cheerleaders and a relentless promoter of our vision.

We consider it a privilege to keep his mission alive through our continued work. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to Bob's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he touched. ❤️

Six years ago, PLAEX was just an idea.

Today, it’s a growing team, a proven material, and a building system helping rethink how construction can be done more sustainably.

Over the past six years, we’ve gone from early experiments to real products, real projects, and real impact — all while creating meaningful jobs and working alongside talented New Brunswickers, partners, and supporters who believed in the vision.

To everyone who followed the journey, shared our work, offered guidance, partnered with us, challenged us, or helped move PLAEX forward in any way — thank you. Your support has played a real role in getting us here. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited about what’s ahead.

Tocco Earth is a global platform focused on sustainable, low-carbon, regenerative materials and the future of building.

They recently published an in-depth interview with our CEO, where we dive into the PLAEX-crete system — the material science, the interlocking design, the recycled content, and how we’re rethinking construction from the ground up.
