When you love rocks....

đźš« Leave natural and historical objects where you find them. Every object in Jasper National Park is part of a larger story.

Parks Canada staff in Jasper National Park received a package containing a handwritten note and a rock that a visitor had taken from the park years ago and decided to return. 📬

It’s an important reminder that removing objects from the park can impact our understanding of the area’s natural, geological and cultural heritage.

This is especially important after the 2024 wildfire. With vegetation burned away and more ground exposed, archaeological sites and historical objects may now be visible.

If you discover a historical object, archaeological artefact or historical refuse in Jasper National Park:

DO:
✔️ Record the date, location coordinates and your contact information
✔️ Take photos of the site from all four cardinal directions
✔️ Take close-up photos of the object with a ruler or your hand for scale, if possible
✔️ Contact Jasper National Park at [email protected]

DON’T:
❌ Pick up the object
❌ Remove the object unless it is at immediate risk

By leaving objects in place and reporting them, you help protect and preserve Jasper National Park’s heritage for future generations. 🌲🏔️

⚠️ Update: The section of the Spray Lakes Road, also known as Highway 742 and Smith-Dorrien Highway, on the Canmore Hill in Kananaskis remains closed due to a rockslide. The road is closed to all vehicle, pedestrian, and cycle traffic to ensure public safety.

As area assessments are ongoing, there is currently no timeline available for re-opening the highway. Please respect all closures and stay clear of the area.

Hello world, let's talk gravel! Unfortunately, Rock Empire doesn't have a gravel pit and we can't bring you a half-a-pickup-truck of gravel for the project in your backyard. We always recommend two options: (1) check in with your local hardware store; (2) do a quick google search for local gravel pits.

**Your google will work better than ours because google starts with your location.

Good luck!
