Jos Lightbringer, an individual who has engaged in photography for his whole life, but has only as of 2007 taken it seriously. Jos endeavors to capture those moments in time and slices of life when his camera is handy to show off his ever-growing set of skills in the world of photography. Since childhood, he has had numerous cameras pass through his hands, of which quite a few were point and shoot
s, but also the occasional Single Lens Reflex (SLR). Jos has considered a return to those systems, but digital is way too convenient... and Polaroid film [particularly Spectra] is a real pain in the ass to acquire in a cost-effective manner [at 08/03/11, a two-pack of 10exp costs $67 on Amazon.com]. Jos' passion in learning skills has brought him through various phases in which he has dabbled with alternative glass* and more recently, multiple flash and light sourcing. Subject matters tend to be heavily on the side of club and party photos, with nature, macro and texture/depth of field filling in the gaps between. Jos relies on Lightroom (aka LR3) for "developing" and as of March2011, upgraded/switched to a MacBook Pro for post-processing. Future equipment addition is looking like a Novation Nocturn or Behringer BCR/F2000 for midi-control of LR3. Jos' favourite lenses are his Canon 50mm 1.8, Rokkor 58mm 1.4 and his Canon 70-200 F4L. In his kit are other interesting or fantastic lenses of which, also include the Lensbaby 2.0, Yashica YUS 28mm, Contax Zeiss 135mm 2.8, Canon 18-55**, SMC Takumar 150/4 and many more. Jos' employs 2 different digital camera bodies, of which are the Canon Rebel XT and the Canon 5D. Jos wishes to add the 24-70 and LB Composer Pro to his collection in the future.
* Alternative glass is generally considered to be when a user employs a lens from a different system, via adapters, to their native system. using Pentax Takumar lens on Canon EOS body."
** I don't care what anyone says... the 18-55 is quite possibly the best walk-around lens Canon has ever made. Because you can always hand-off your camera with it attached, to a friend and they can take decent shots - providing you config the camera for super-ease-of-use. Simplicity can be beautiful in the hands of a total amateur with a good eye and creative mind.
