FROM WORN TO WORKING — Episode 2: Retaining Nut 🔧

Seized onto the front of the barrel, this retaining nut wasn’t coming off the conventional way. After cutting it off, our team put in approximately 2 hours of skilled machining to manufacture a new one, ready to fit back into place.

When parts don’t come apart as planned, experience makes the difference. Our team has the skills, knowledge, and equipment to find a solution and get you back up and running.

Worn out, seized up, or beyond a simple fix? We’ll put in the work to get you working again.

There’s no hiding in the shop anymore.

One minute you’re machining, welding or fixing cylinders… the next minute you’re being told, “Okay, just act natural.” 😅

Consider this your official warning: if you work at Custom Hydraulics, you’re never too far from the camera.

Today, we’re celebrating the people behind the work.

The early mornings.
The long days.
The problem-solving.

The experience passed down from one person to the next.
And the pride that comes from seeing something leave the shop knowing you did it right.

At Custom Hydraulics, manufacturing is personal.

It’s the machinists who turn a piece of material into a precision component. The technicians who bring worn equipment back to life. And the people behind the scenes who keep everything moving.

We’re proud of the team that makes Custom Hydraulics what it is, and proud to do that work right here in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

This National Manufacturing Day, we’re celebrating our people, our trade, and the community we’ve been fortunate enough to be part of for so many years.

Here’s to the people who make things, fix things, build things and keep Northwestern Ontario moving.

Happy National Manufacturing Day from all of us at Custom Hydraulics.

Honouring Truth. Remembering. Moving Forward. 🧡

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Custom Hydraulics recognizes the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.

Today is an opportunity to listen, learn, reflect and acknowledge the work that remains.

As a company rooted in Northwestern Ontario, we are committed to continuing to learn about the history and experiences of Indigenous peoples and to fostering respect, understanding and stronger relationships within our community.

We remember. We honour. We commit to learning.

🧡 Every Child Matters.

✈️💪 26,000 lbs. 50 feet. 17 teams. One unforgettable day.

Custom Hydraulics was proud to take part in the 2026 United Way & Wasaya Plane Pull, marking our first year entering a team in this incredible event!

Our crew went head-to-head with 16 other teams, pulling a 26,000 lb. aircraft 50 feet in support of United Way of Thunder Bay and the Northwestern Ontario Indigenous Youth Achievement and Recognition Awards (IYARA).

And we didn’t just show up to participate… we pulled our way to 4th place overall! 🏆

Beyond the competition, the Plane Pull is about bringing people together, supporting important causes, and giving back to our community. It was also great to see some familiar faces from Thunder Bay Hydraulics jump in alongside the Custom Hydraulics team to help us get that plane moving!

A huge thank you to United Way Thunder Bay and Wasaya Airways for putting on such a great event, and to everyone who helped make it possible.

Strong teams. Strong community. Stronger together.

Until next year… we’ve got our sights set on the podium. 👀

Thank you to Andrei Rosario for providing some of the photographs from the event!

FROM WORN TO WORKING — Episode 1

What starts as a worn-out component can leave the shop ready for another round of work. This tilt cylinder gland came into Custom Hydraulics in rough shape. After approximately 4 hours of skilled machining and repair, it was transformed into a precision-finished component ready to get back to work.

This is what “From Work to Working” is all about, showing the real work, skill and attention to detail that goes into keeping equipment moving.

Worn. Reworked. Ready.
