Hand Soap…Hand Washing…DO IT RIGHT…for your protection and that of others.

Today, I operate Mousse A Mains, a niche 'concentrate-to dilute' foam dispensed hand soap business which I believe offers an excellent product, a personalised service, and a tremendous cost saving for commercial clients.

In my previous career, however, I specialised in the set-up and implementation of hygiene, cleaning, and sanitation programs for the hospitality industry....so I am not only well acquainted with the many types of hand soaps available in the market but also, via certified training, the proper way to wash hands properly.

Why is it important to properly wash one’s hands?

…The reason is simple...to remove the encrusted dirt particle, bacteria, and virus cells lodged within the hand skin pores.

Many people think that just using a hand sanitizer actually sanitizes one’s hands.
The danger with this mindset is that people will forget NOT to place their fingers near or into their noses, mouths, and eyes.
A sanitizer will not reach the bacteria or virus cells deep in the pores of one’s skin if there are dirt particles, skin oils, and moisturizing oils layered above them. But the bacteria and virus cells can certainly enter one’s mouth, nose, and eyes when a person uses their fingers to relieve an ‘itch’ or a discomfort in those areas.

Proper hand washing will remove the oil and dirt barrier covering the pores and it will also help to eliminate the vast majority the bacteria and virus cells. This cleaning action will also help to fully expose the bacteria and virus cells to the full effect of a hand sanitizer.

How does one wash their hands properly?

It starts with hot water…as hot as is comfortable for an individual …combined with a well lathered, foamy hand soap.

Why comfortably hot water?
….because it not only helps to remove surface skin oils and dirt but it also helps to open up the skin pores.
When the skin pores have opened up, the water and soap can fully pe*****te the pores and consequently remove the dirt, oils, bacteria, and virus cells lodged inside the pores.

This process should be repeated 1-2 times, followed with a rinsing using comfortably hot water, and then a drying with paper towelling (or hand dryer).

One should also remember to place a paper towelling onto the washroom door k**b or handle when exiting the public washroom since some people may not have washed their hands properly …or not at all.

I hope this information will be helpful you and your business.

Thanks

Commercial Hand Soap; Economy and Added Value

A commercial hand soap needs to be economical and provide added value in order to minimize the total cost, especially , given the reality, that many people will liberally pump the commercial dispenser in order to use a generous amount of hand soap.

Many businesses will use a lotion dispensed hand soap because the purchase price per litre is competitive…on paper.

In general, the price per litre for lotion hand soaps may be less than that of a quality ‘foam’ hand soap... BUT did you know that generally people use 2 - 4 times MORE ‘lotion’ soap than ’foam’ hand soap

WHY is that?
3 main reasons.
..The FOAM is visually ABUNDANT while the amount of the dispensed ‘lotion’ soap may look miniscule & insufficient….ergo “I need more lotion hand soap”..The ABUNDANT foam is ready to be used while the lotion soap needs to be lathered with water. When there isn’t enough lather, people will normally pump more lotion soap...The ABUNDANT foam stays in the palm of a hand while the lotion soap usually slides with the water and may slip out into the sink, causing the user to pump again (& again) the lotion soap dispenser.

Another Reason:
In general, a foam hand soap dispenser dispenses 20% - 30% less product per dose and more total doses than a lotion soap dispenser...Not only does a visitor see a lot of white foamy soap in their hand but they are also using less product per pump than with a lotion hand soap.

Maintenance :
With any public hand washing facility, regular maintenance is usually required in order to maintain a clean presentation for the visitors.
Lotion hand soaps can and will drip onto the countertop or sink interior, whether it be caused by the user or the dispenser itself. The drip residue of the lotion hand soap, because of its lotion consistency, will normally leave a very visible slimy/gelish residue / stain, which will definitely leave a negative impression on clients.
Therefore, very frequent inspections and cleanups are required.

“FOAM” hand soaps, on the other hand, do not leave a visible slimy/gelish residue…ergo leaving a cleaner presentation and operation for the eyes of your customers.

Please note that non lathered lotion hand soap residues may accumulate and dry up within the sink drain line, potentially contributing to future drain blockages and unplanned plumbing maintenance costs.

Mousse A Mains specialises in the manufacture and sale
of a quality ‘foam’ hand soap formula.
I have developed a concentrate-to-dilute formula, an equipment system, and a technical service which not only creates a significant 50% ++ cost saving
but also offers other major advantages and cost benefits.

Most Economical Hand Soap for Shopping Centers

Shopping Centers receive thousands of shoppers per day who will spend some money during the time of their visit.
They will also, in most cases, use the washroom facilities.
This being said, they will also need to use hand soap to wash their hands.
A busy shopping center buys and uses a considerable amount of hand soap per month, which is dispensed either through wall mounted dispensers or counter top installed dispensers.

Many will use a lotion dispensed hand soap because the purchase price per litre is competitive…on paper.

In general, the price per litre for lotion hand soaps may be less than that of a quality ‘foam’ hand soap... ..BUT did you know that generally people use 2 - 4 times MORE ‘lotion’ soap than ’foam’ hand soap.

REDUCE RESTAURANT FLOOR DETERGENT COST BY 60%.....And have cleaner floors too!

It is obvious that I will not be talking about the Mousse A Mains hand soap product here.
..I thought it might be interesting, however, to give you some insight from my past expertise so that you can save some additional monies in another area of your restaurant business.

I would like to explain how you can reduce your restaurant floor cleaning detergent cost by 60% or more and have cleaner dining and kitchen floors at the same time.

The Cost:
Larger surface area restaurants can use an average
of 6 x 20L (5 gal) pails of floor detergents per month.
This can easily represent an monthly cost of $ 500 - $ 800.

The Results:
Upon inspection, a restaurant manager will notice a darkened dried dirty film along the baseboard and floor edges of both the dining room and kitchen floors. The manager will also notice a buildup of a blackish grime in the grouting of the kitchen tiles.

Why does this happen even though the floors
are being mopped regularly, usually 3 times a day?

Explanation:
An employee fills the mop bucket with water and detergent (either manually or via an automatic water fill / detergent dilution equipment system).
Depending on the formula concentration of the detergent, approximately 8 to 16 oz of detergent will be added to the mop bucket solution.
The employee starts mopping the floor.
The employee rinses the mop and resoaks it in the bucket solution.
The bucket solution is rapidly turning black in colour because of the dirt and oils picked up.
The employee, however, continues to wash the floor with this blackish grimy solution.
In doing so, the blackish greasy and soapy solution is redeposited onto the floor, settling along the floor edges and baseboards with the mopping action….creating the dark film seen upon inspection.
The employee, at some point, decides to change, empty, and renew the mop bucket solution….and so the employee refills the bucket with water and another dose of 8 - 16 oz of detergent.
This will occur and repeat itself an average of 4 times per mopping shift.

3 mopping shifts / day
4 bucket refills per mopping shift
avg 12 oz of detergent / bucket refill
30 days / month
= 3 x 4 = 12 x 12 oz = 144 oz x 30 days
= 4320 oz divided by 676 oz/pail
= about 6 pails of floor detergent / month
= $ 500 - $ 800 / month

The Solution: The proper way to mop the floor.
Fill a 2 gallon pump up sprayer with water and the recommended detergent dosage.
Fill the mop bucket with ONLY hot water.
Proceed to spray and wet a small limited floor area with the pump sprayer solution.
I recommend placing ‘wet floor’ signs.
Take the squeezed mop and clean the sprayed are.
Rinse and squeeze mop in bucket with hot water.
Repeat until bucket water is dirty.
Empty the dirty bucket water.
Refill the mop bucket with ONLY hot water.
Continue the above process until entire floor has been cleaned.

As you can see, there is NO DETERGENTDUMPED with the dirty mop bucket water.
There is no repetitive addition / refilling of detergent into bucket solution.

Conclusion:
Not only will you have much cleaner floors…since the employee is no longer mopping large sections of the floor with dirty, grimy, soapy water…but you will also significantly reduce the quantity of floor detergent being used.

My field experience showed that this process would reduce the consumption of floor detergent from about 6 pails per month to about 2 pails per month.

Other suggestion:
I would recommend the use of a NO RINSE floor cleaner. The reason for this is that many floor cleaning formulations contain caustic and / or solvent ingredients, which require additional rinsing…and, if not rinsed, will leave a film that may create slippage when damp or wet. Also the chemical residue may interact with some floor finishes.
Please speak with your supplier or another supplier for their product suggestions.

I hope that this information will help you and your business.

I invite you to take a look at the Mousse A Mains website and see how my ' concentrate - to - dilute ' hand soap formula and equipment system can reduce your cost in this area by over 50%.

Thank you!

HAND SOAP for HOTELS

A hotel operation supplies a lot of hand soap.

Hand soap for:
…the washrooms in the customers’ rooms
…the public lobby washrooms
…the restaurant, food service, and bar operations
…the fitness/gym/pool facilities
…the employee locker/washroom areas

Not only is cost of all this hand soap considerable but there is also the associated costs of product management, inventory control, and maintenance.

In a typical hotel operation there may be 3 to 4 different types of hand soaps being used along with different dispensing equipment installations and related maintenance requirements.

There is:

The miniature bar hand soap in the customers’ washrooms...many are either stolen, find their way into the sink/bathtub drain or toilet (creating plumbing problems) or end up in the garbage.
…the partially used , left over, soap bars must also be replaced with new bars for new customers. Therefore, there is also the cost of a collection and recycling process.

The hand soap for the public lobby washrooms, which, many times comes in non refillable, disposable cartridges/pouches using proprietary dispensers.
The hand soap in this set-up comes along with a considerable premium price, requires inventory vigilance due to backorders, creates residual soap wastage (as a cartridge will be replaced many times before it is completely empty), and creates a plastic waste footprint.

Another type of hand soap is usually set-up in the restaurant and food preparation operations. This is because a supplier will sell the idea that another type off hand soap is required for that operation….which in reality is a marketing ploy to sell more hand soap.

Mousse A Mains manufactures and sells a hand soap formula and system which can be used in each of the above situations.
One hand soap for the entire hotel operation.

The Mousse A Mains ‘foam’ hand soap can be set-up in the customer room washrooms.
…eliminating the costs, wastage, maintenance challenges, and management requirements related to the mini bar soaps.

The Mousse A Mains foam hand soap can be set-up in the lobby washrooms, reducing by over 50% the costs of present hand soaps, reducing inventory costs, and eliminating soap residual wastage and plastic container recycling/disposal costs.

The SAME Mousse A Mains ‘foam’ hand soap product and dispensing equipment can be
set-up in the restaurant, food preparation, and bar operations. (it is soft on hands)

I invite you to take a closer look at the information
in the Mousse A Mains website www.mousse-a-mains.com

The Mousse A Mains ‘concentrate - to - dilute’ formula and its equipment system is designed to produce a cost saving of over 50%, simplify inventory management, eliminated plastic waste footprint, and provide a quality product.

I also offer a technical service which will further create additional cost savings.
(available only to businesses in the Greater Montreal area and surrounding cities)

I hope this information will be helpful to you and your hotel operation.

Thanks

HAND SOAP for FITNESS CENTERS & GYMS:

Fitness centers and gyms use large quantities of hand soap.

This need creates several important challenges.

The cost challenge:
…A popular fitness center / gym can easily order 6 - 12 cases (4 gal/case) of hand soap per month…in other words, between 24 - 48 gallons per month. This represents a significant monthly expense. If the operation uses a hand soap in disposable cartridge/pouch formats, then the cost can be upto 200% greater.

The maintenance challenge:
… With any public hand washing facility, regular maintenance is usually required in order to maintain a clean presentation for the customers.
Lotion hand soaps can and will drip onto the countertop, whether it be caused by the user or the dispenser itself. The drip residue of the lotion hand soap, because of its lotion consistency, will normally leave a very visible slimy/gelish residue / stain on the countertop, which will definitely leave a negative impression on clients.
Also, if any of this drip residue ends up on the floor, a significant ‘slippage’ hazard is produced.
Therefore, very frequent sink countertop inspections and cleanups are required...“FOAM” hand soaps, on the other hand, do not leave a visible slimy/gelish residue…ergo leaving a cleaner presentation and operation for the eyes of your customers.

The MOUSSE A MAINS ‘concentrate - to - dilute’ foam hand soap formula and its system offer solutions to these major challenges...a 50% ++ hand soap cost reduction..lower maintenance cost, professional appearance

HAND SOAP. HAND SANITIZER. HAND IN HAND
With the covid virus, and its variants, in our midsts there is the ever present hand sanitizer in the entrance of all public venues.

There are several types of hand sanitizers being used.

The gel , the spray, the foam.

Many of these sanitizers contain an alcohol formulation.
Others contain some type of chemical sanitizer.

Both will perform to their stated % of efficiency…but ONLY under the right condition.

What condition is that?

If the skin of the hands has been properly washed with hand soap first.

Why is that?

Gentlemen, if the exterior of your car is dirty with oily road film and dust, do you apply wax on it?..Definitely not.

1st step….rinse the visible dirt with hose water.
2nd. Step…apply soap and wash the exterior
3rd step…rinse and repeat step 2
4 th step…rinse and dry exterior of car
5th step…now you can apply the car wax for a clean shine.

Ladies, when you hairs feels like it needs to be cleaned, do you apply only the conditioner?..Definitely not.

1st step….rinse your hair with comfortably hot water.
2nd step…apply hair soap and rub into the hair
3 rd step…rinse and repeat step 2
4 th step…rinse
5th step …and now you apply the hair conditioner…your hair is clean and silky smooth

The same steps apply if you want to have hands that are sanitized.

It is important that your hands be washed first before the sanitizing step.

A hand sanitizer will not be very efficient if there are skin oils, hand creams, and fine dirt in the pores of hand skin. A hand sanitizer will not be able to completely reach the bacteria or virus cells through the oils and dirt.

That is why it is important to wash one’s hands regularly with a good hand soap, which is gentle on the skin (not causing chafing or micro fissures) before applying the hand sanitizer.

Also, please use a hand sanitizer which has plenty of moisturising agent in its formula.

Mousse A Mains, however, does manufacture a high quality ‘foam’ hand soap formula which effectively cleans oils and dirt while being gentle on hands.

I believe that my ‘concentrate-to-dilute’ formula and equipment system also offer the most economical ‘foam’ hand soap on the market.

LOTION HAND SOAP VS FOAM HAND SOAP

The selection and purchase of a hand soap
is not normally a major item for a business owner,
but a patron’s ‘hand soap / hand washing’ experience
is one of the important factors
in a customer’s judgement of an establishment's sanitation and hygiene standards.

A business owner may not think of it this way,
but I ask you to think about it
since many men and women judge it to be important in their home washrooms.

Any ‘negative’ experience for a patron can result
in a costly loss of repeat sales.

Many lotion hand soaps are , in themselves, good hand soaps…..but they may not provide the most advantages for a business.

Are you using a LOTION hand soap?

In general, the price per liter for lotion hand soaps may be less than that of a quality ‘foam’ hand soap... BUT did you know that many people tend to use 2 - 4 times MORE 'lotion' hand soap than 'foam' hand soap?

WHY is that?..3 main reasons.

1.The FOAM produced by a 'foam' hand soap is visually ABUNDANT while the amount of the dispensed ‘lotion’ soap may look miniscule & insufficient….ergo “I need more lotion hand soap”

2.The ABUNDANT foam is ready to be used while the lotion soap needs to be lathered with water. When there isn’t enough lather, people will normally pump more lotion soap.

3.The ABUNDANT foam stays in the palm of a hand while the lotion soap usually slides with the water and may slip out into the sink, causing the user to pump again (& again) the lotion soap dispenser.

These are the 3 big reasons why people tend to
use 2 - 4 times more lotion hand soap than foam hand soap.

These are also 3 more reasons that make the Mousse A Mains ‘foam’ hand soap even more interesting and economical.

EQUIPMENT WISE: ..In general, a foam hand soap dispenser dispenses 20% - 30% less product per dose and more total doses than a lotion soap dispenser.

Not only does a patron see a lot of white foamy soap in their hand but they are also using less product per pump than with a lotion hand soap.

COUNTERTOP MIANTENANCE:..With any public hand washing facility, regular maintenance is usually required in order to maintain a clean presentation for the patrons.

Lotion hand soaps can and will drip onto the countertop, whether it be caused by the user or the dispenser itself. The drip residue of the lotion hand soap, because of its lotion consistency, will normally leave a very visible slimy/gelish residue (& stain) on the countertop, which will definitely leave a negative impression on clients. Therefore, very frequent sink countertop inspections and cleanups are required.

“FOAM” hand soaps, on the other hand, do not leave a visible slimy/gelish residue…ergo leaving a cleaner presentation for the eye of patrons.

Please note that the 'non lathered' residues of lotion hand soaps may accumulate and dry up within the sink drain line, potentially contributing to future drain blockages and unplanned plumbing maintenance costs.

Mousse A Mains specializes in the manufacture and sale of a quality ‘foam’ hand soap formula. I have developed a concentrate-to-dilute formula, an equipment system, and a technical service which not only creates a significant cost saving but also offers major advantages.

I invite you to check out my website www.mousse-a-mains.com and please click on the menu CONTACT tab to send me any questions.

A SIDE NOTE for the restaurant and food processing industries:..The Mousse A Mains 'foam' hand soap performs exceptionally well in cleaning hands covered with vegetable oils and animal fats, as often is the case with people working in the restaurant and food processing industries. Another advantage of the Mousse A Mains product is that it is also soft on hands, whereas many hand soaps that are used in these industries have high ph formulations that can cause skin drying and chaffing.

I hope that the above information will be helpful to you and your business.

Thank you for your time.

HAND SOAP DISPENSERS“Which one is the best for my business?"..It depends on how much you are willing to pay for the hand...
12/26/2021

HAND SOAP DISPENSERS

“Which one is the best for my business?"..It depends on how much you are willing to pay for the hand soap.

There are 2 main types of hand soap dispensers.

A ‘Bulk Fill’ dispenser is one which, in itself, is either refillable or contains a refillable plastic bottle. A gallon format of any brand of hand soap can be used to refill the dispenser.

A ‘Proprietary’ dispenser, on the other hand, uses ONLY a specific disposable and replaceable brand type of hand soap cartridge or pouch. This type of dispenser will only accept a replaceable cartridge/pouch designated for that dispenser.

So you have the following 4 choices:..A Bulk Fill dispenser for lotion hand soap..A Bulk Fill dispenser for foam hand soap..A Proprietary dispenser for lotion hand soap..A Proprietary dispenser for foam hand soap

Which type of dispenser is sold at a lower price?

You may think it is the Bulk Fill dispenser…but the answer is The Proprietary Dispenser.

Why?...because the hand soap in the replaceable cartridge /pouch refills for the Proprietary dispenser is usually sold at a premium.
(Given the high cost of the proprietary cartridge/pouch type hand soap, some companies will even supply these proprietary dispensers at no charge. How can they do that ???

The general market cost of Proprietary foam hand soaps is
about 200 % higher than that of the gallon format for the foam hand soaps which are used for Bulk Refill dispensers.

The Mouse A Mains ‘foam’ hand soap usage cost, however,
offers the most significant savings.

(Lotion hand soap costs are in general lower, but given the trend that people dispense about 2-4 times more lotion hand soap than foam hand soap, the foam hand soap formulas are the most economical choices.)

Summary:
1.The most economical hand soap dispenser : The Bulk Fill model
2.The most economical hand soap formula : The ‘foam’ hand soap
3.The most economical ‘foam’ hand soap: Mousse A Mains

Mousse A Mains markets and sells only the Bulk Fill ‘foam’ type hand soap dispenser.

If you would like to request more information about the Mousse A Mains ‘foam’ hand soap dispensers or the Mousse AMains 'concentrate-to-dilute' foam hand soap product and system, please click go to www.mousse-a-mains.com.

HAND SOAP FOR RESTAURANTS

Hand washing is an important sanitation requirement and need in the restaurant operation.

The staff that serve the patrons touch the utensils, dishes, glasses, and cups that the customers use.

The staff that handles the raw foods and prepares the dishes...the executive chefs, the head chefs, the sous chefs, the line cooks, the kitchen porters…come in contact with the food that the patrons will eat.

All these people need to wash their hands very often….and this can cause some skin problems such as skin chafing and micro fissures…both of which can lead to infections, sickness, and staff shortages.

There are some hand soap formulations which contain aggressive alkaline degreasers which can contribute to skin problems more readily than other hand soap formulations.
..But a quality and effective hand soap is needed to clean the vegetable oils and animal fats that the hands of the food service staff come in contact with.

Mousse A Mains uses a formulation that removes vegetable oils, butters, and animal fats exceptionally well and is also soft on hands. Plus, my 'concentrate-to-dilute' formula and system make the Mousse A Mains 'foam' hand soap the most economical on the market.

If you are unhappy with or having complaints about the hand soap that you are presently using , I would be happy to offer a sample trial for your staff to evaluate.

Please note that this offer is available only to operations located within the greater Montreal area and its neighboring cities.

Otherwise, I suggest you speak to your supplier or another supplier for their recommendations.

I hope that the above information will be helpful to you and your business.

Thanks!
