ICYMI: Carbon mineralized concrete is expanding across Saudi Arabia.

With sponsorship from Ministry of Energy - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia وزارة الطاقة , CarbonCure and Kifah Precast Company (KPC) have signed an agreement to bring our technologies to more of the Kingdom through the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, advancing decarbonization in construction and supporting Circular Carbon Economy goals.

Through our tech, captured CO₂ is injected into concrete during manufacturing, where it permanently mineralizes and improves the concrete microstructure. This maintains strength and enables improved cement efficiency, reducing the materials' carbon footprint while still delivering the same, high quality concrete products.

Cool science alert!

A new peer-reviewed study from researchers at MIT's Masic Lab and CarbonCure, published in the Journal of the American Ceramic Society, captures for the first time — in real time, at the molecular level — the precise chemical sequence that CO₂ triggers during cement hydration.

The team used the Masic Lab’s advanced in situ Raman microspectroscopy — a technique capable of identifying individual chemical phases as they form at the micron scale, smaller than a human hair.

Observing hour-by-hour over 24 hours, they uncovered the precise molecular sequence behind CO₂ mineralization in cement and concrete. The study details a three-stage process that produces a more uniform, interconnected binder that sets faster and achieves higher early strength. The study also provides the first direct visual evidence of early age CO₂ mineralization, with calcium carbonate nanoparticles permanently sequestered within the concrete matrix.

Against the backdrop of CarbonCure's commercial deployment to date (11+ million treated loads across 20,000 distinct mix designs), this new scientific analysis provides the most definitive, high-resolution mapping yet of the precise mechanisms driving CO₂ mineralization in concrete.
