BEFORE MONDAY’S REFERENDUM
WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?

Alberta votes on Monday, October 19. Before then, we’d like to open a respectful conversation here.

Peace Oil Jobs is not endorsing an outcome or telling anyone how to vote.

The referendum includes questions about immigration, access to provincial programs, voting requirements, constitutional changes, and whether to begin the legal process toward a future separation referendum. There’s more than one decision being put to voters.

Which question matters most to you and why?

What are you weighing up? What do you feel confident about, and what do you still need answered?

You don’t need to disclose your vote. We’re interested in the reasoning, concerns, and questions behind people’s views.

Different opinions are welcome. Keep it about the proposals not personal attacks on the people in the comments. When sharing a factual claim, include a source so others can check it.

Let’s hear each other out.

🏗️ Northern B.C. is getting five new compressor stations for a $33 billion LNG expansion.

TC Energy plans five more compressor facilities so Coastal GasLink can carry about 5 billion cubic feet of gas a day to Kitimat without a second pipeline. Three will be in the Bulkley-Nechako region: Segundo Lake near Burns Lake, Parrot Lakes near Houston and Clear Creek near Vanderhoof. Construction starts in early 2027, with work lodges planned for about 1,300 workers across the three sites.

Do you live near Burns Lake, Houston or Vanderhoof? What would a project like this mean for your area?
