Radiant Labs had the opportunity to share its expertise in the identification of asbestos fibres with interested students from Freedom Thinkers!
It was such an honour to be able to share a glimpse into our geeky world, and for the younger generation to have an interest in it!
Thank you so much for the opportunity, and we hope you left with more knowledge and understanding on what asbestos is, and how we can identify it!!
Come back anytime 😁

A misconception of asbestos, is that it is easily identifiable with the naked eye. Unfortunately, these small fibres are hidden and intertwined with common household building materials used up until 1990 in BC. The reality is, asbestos fibres cannot be identified or ruled out in suspect materials without the help of a Polarized Light Microscope.
The below video identifies residential/commercial products that are known to have asbestos fibres within the material.

Thank you so much for taking the time to support a locally owned & run business in the North Peace Region! In order to gain a better understanding as to what Halo Enterprises Inc. does, it would be beneficial to understand where it started...
Halo Enterprises Inc. started out as “Halo Safety Consulting” in the year 2015, where its main focus was developing safety programs & managing online safety platforms for small companies. Halo has developed safety programs for numerous different industries that are prominent in the North Peace Region; from the Oil & Gas industry to the Residential/Commercial Construction sector. Angelina Peters, the Owner, started her career in Health & Safety 9 years ago.
Throughout Angelina’s past nine years of experience in the safety realm, it became apparent that there is a growing demand for services revolving around “Hazardous Materials” (asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury, lead, etc). Businesses in Fort St. John and surrounding areas are having to hire companies outside of the North Peace Region to obtain services required of them; anything that is pre-1990s are required to have a Hazardous Materials Assessment performed by a Qualified Individual confirming the presence (or lack of) of asbestos, lead, mercury, PCBs, prior to performing any type of work (renovations, demolition, dismantlement, etc.). Another key requirement is air monitoring and sampling to confirm that work activities that are in place are compliant and safe.
With this demand in mind, sparked the new services and the re-vamped company name of Halo Safety Consulting: Halo Enterprises Inc.A company that provides an AHERA Building Inspector to perform Hazardous Materials Assessments/Surveys for materials such as asbestos, lead, mercury, PCBs, mould, hantavirus etc. in the Construction & Oil & Gas Industry.
Halo is also equipped with a PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) Microscope & has access to air sampling equipment to provide services that include air monitoring during work activities, and analyzing air samples to provide air clearances.
Stay tuned for posts on information & education on the services Halo provides!
