We talk a lot about what mass timber does structurally. But what does it do to the people inside?

Biophilic design — the idea that humans are innately drawn to nature — is one of the most compelling arguments for building with wood. And now there's real research done in BC to back it up.

Biophilic Design in Mass Timber Buildings, a post-occupancy study by .cities and Forestry Innovation Investment, evaluated two mass timber office buildings at The Exchange in Kelowna, B.C. — using surveys, site visits, and interviews to measure the actual impact on occupants.

The findings? Employees in mass timber offices report higher wellbeing, better focus, stronger collaboration, and a deeper connection to their workplace. Exposed wood surfaces and natural daylight were the standout features — not just aesthetically, but measurably.

Every component we produce starts with a conversation — over drawings, over details, over the questions that matter before the cutting begins. The precision you see in a finished DLT panel or a timber frame is only possible because of the thinking that happens long before the machines run.

Some buildings are meant to be more than four walls and a roof.

The day use building at is one of those. Nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, it's a place where people will come to connect — with nature, with these magnificent animals, and with something a little wilder than everyday life.

We supplied the timber components and mass timber DLT panels for this build, and from the moment we saw the vision, we knew this one was special. Dowel laminated timber — wood holding wood, no glue, no nails — felt like the only honest choice for a place like this.

Proud to have played a part in bringing this sanctuary to life. Doors open to the public this May.

Yesterday this mass timber DLT load left our facility. Soon it'll be standing walls on a Colorado jobsite.
