She has since been on many return journeys, during which she has captured the natural beauty of the continent. Although her original focus was African wildlife, Ingrid has also become involved in nature photography in other regions of the world. Devoted to Nikon equipment, Ingrid prefers to wait patiently with specific animals until something happens rather than focusing on a multitude of subjects

or designing and creating a certain set-up. She plans to continue to develop her photography with this philosophy of ‘capturing the moment’. Ingrid likes to create photos in-camera, so none of her photos are a product of Photoshop. Ingrid currently shows her photos in exhibitions in Belgium and The Netherlands. She also organizes photography workshops in her home country, Belgium. On top of that she leads photo safaris to Africa. Ingrid won several awards with her photography. BENRO Benelux ambassador.

Mijn foto's blijven soms jarenlang opgeslagen op een harde schijf zonder dat er iets mee gebeurt. Nu ben ik recent resoluut aan de foto's van Tanzania 2023 (🙈) begonnen. Het fijne van zolang wachten met het bekijken van foto's, is dat je vergeten herinneringen opnieuw met verwondering beleeft. Deze mtoto simba (leeuwenwelp in Swahili) lag onvervaard maar gehoorzaam op moeder te wachten terwijl deze op jacht was.

Some of my photos remain untouched on a hard drive for years before I finally get around to them. Recently, I decided it was time to start working through my Tanzania 2023 images (🙈).
One of the joys of waiting so long to revisit old photographs is rediscovering forgotten memories and experiencing them with fresh wonder. This little mtoto simba (lion cub in Swahili) lay fearlessly, yet obediently, waiting for its mother while she was out hunting.

BEAUTIFUL DOOM
En de zonnedauw is er weer. Je zou er zo overheen lopen, zo klein is het. Pas wanneer je het door je macrolens ziet, komt de pracht van dit vleesetende plantje tot zijn recht. Het schittert ook echt helemaal uit zichzelf, tenminste: als de zon van de partij is. Dus zoek niet verder naar de oorsprong van zijn naam ☺️

And the sundew is back. It’s so tiny that you could easily walk right past it. Only when you see it through a macro lens does the beauty of this carnivorous little plant truly reveal itself. It genuinely sparkles all on its own too—at least when the sun is shining. So don't look any further for the origin of its name ☺️

PART OF THE GANG
In maart zat ik in de bush voor een prospectiereis naar de Okavango Delta in Botswana. Volop in het regenseizoen dacht ik: "Als dit goed is in het regenseizoen, dan moet ik zeker een reis doen hier naartoe in het hoogseizoen!". Maar het was niet goed. Het was FANTASTISCH!
Met 'African Wildlife fotomaatje' Nicole Cambre (wiens lievelingsdier de met uitsterven bedreigde Afrikaanse wilde hond is) beleefde ik één van de mooiste reizen ooit. En de wilde honden waren present. En hoe!
Vorige week vrijdag werd mijn nieuwsbrief met de aankondiging van deze reis uitgestuurd. De reacties waren overweldigend. Met het risico dat het te laat is, wil ik jullie toch even aansporen om je interesse te laten blijken indien je mee wilt. Dan zien we wel weer verder of ik er misschien twee... of drie (?) reizen van maak.
Ik p***l alvast om jullie mee te nemen op dit prachtige avontuur!

PART OF THE GANG
In March, I headed into the bush on a scouting trip to Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Visiting during the heart of the rainy season, I thought: “If it’s this good in the rainy season, I definitely need to come back during the peak season!” But it wasn’t just good. It was FANTASTIC!
Together with my African Wildlife photography companion, Nicole Cambre —whose favourite animal happens to be the critically endangered African wild dog—I experienced one of the most memorable trips of my life. And the wild dogs were there. In force!
Last Friday, my newsletter announcing this trip was sent out, and the response was overwhelming. At the risk of being too late, I’d still like to encourage anyone interested in joining to get in touch. If the interest is there, perhaps we’ll turn it into two… or even three trips!
I can’t wait to share this incredible adventure with you.

Door het struikgewas heen kregen we een beperkt zicht op Afrikaanse Nimmerzatten die nog zaten te genieten van het laatste avondzonnetje... Volgens de laatste weerberichten moeten wij hier nog eventjes geduld hebben om ons ook in het avondzonnetje te koesteren. 😉

Op zondag 31 mei mag ik op de Fotodag 2026 weer enkele Afrikaverhalen komen vertellen. En er is weer veel gebeurd sinds ik dat de vorige keer mocht doen!

Afspraak in Thor Central op 31 mei. Mijn lezing vindt plaats om 13u. Ik ben er ook gewoon aanwezig met een stand van 10 tot 18u, dus kom me zeker opzoeken voor een praatje.

PRIVATE MOMENTS

Op een ochtend afgelopen januari reden we zoals steeds voor zonsopgang weg uit het kamp. Dat is de beste tijd als je leeuwen op je pad wil tegenkomen. En dat gebeurde dan ook letterlijk. Twee leeuwinnen naderden over de weg ons voertuig, en liepen ons voorbij. Ze keken af en toe spiedend, duidelijk op zoek naar prooi. Eén van beide zoogde duidelijk. Dus reden we verder in de richting waar ze vandaan kwamen, om op zoek te gaan naar de -voor de jacht - achtergelaten kroost. En we vonden ze! En ze speelden zo geweldig voor ons, in het open.... De dapperste was een jongetje, die durfde al wel eens heel nieuwsgierig dichterbij komen
Een show, helemaal alleen voor ons....

PRIVATE MOMENTS

One morning last January, we left camp before sunrise, as we always do. That’s the best time if you hope to encounter lions along the way. And that’s exactly what happened — quite literally. Two lionesses approached our vehicle along the road and walked right past us. Every now and then, they scanned the surroundings intently, clearly searching for prey. One of them was obviously nursing cubs.
So we continued in the direction they had come from, hoping to find the youngsters they had left behind for the hunt. And we found them! They put on the most wonderful show for us, playing out in the open… The bravest one was a little male cub, that occasionally came curiously closer to us
A private performance, just for us…

TRIO OF RHINO

Solio Game Reserve is al meer dan 50 jaar een groot beschermer van wild, en in het bijzonder van de neushoorn. Een dag Solio aan het begin van een safari naar Samburu is gelijk een geweldige kans om de neushoorn in zijn habitat, maar ook leeuwen, luipaarden, giraffen, antilopen, vogels en nog veel meer rustig te fotograferen. Dit jaar is deze reis volzet, maar in 2027 gaan we weer. Ga jij mee?

Solio Game Reserve has been a great protector of wildlife, especially the rhino, over the last 50 years. A day at Solio at the beginning of a safari to Samburu equals a fabulous chance of peacefully photographing the rhino in its environment, as well as lions, leopards, giraffes, antilopes, birds and many more.
