CADD EDUCATION
“BRIDGING THE GAP”
In the increasing crowd of competitors, an individual wonders what else is required besides his educational qualifications and his work experience, in order to stay a step ahead of others. Technological know-how and industry specific skills, as well as the willingness to learn them and to accommodate oneself with the continuous evolution of the industrial world,
are the most sought after skills in today’s growing talent pool. What exactly do you want to learn (your choice of study area) and how eager are you to learn it? Do you want to stay in the same level of expertise, or do you want to raise the yardstick and challenge yourself? Once these questions are answered, and mind set, the rest of the process becomes much easier. Otherwise, individuals find themselves in a vicious cycle of career confusion. Computer Aided Design and Drafting is a fundamental part of education or career build-up for engineers particularly, but not limited to engineers only. CADD education equips one with technological expertise, and challenges one with uniqueness and newness. It opens a new arena in one’s career, areas which one may not even have thought or imagined of. CADD education further equips an individual with industry specific skills, since individuals nowadays, find it very difficult to compete with the fast-paced talent evolution, without adequate software knowledge relevant to their discipline. Not only that, CADD education gives the confidence to do something new and exciting, and thus develops entrepreneurial skills too. It is amazing how CADD education widens the vision and imagination of individuals, and creates a deeper interest to excel in something they may have thought of once. Excellent graphics designing, animation creation, film production, freelancing, fashion designing, 3D-modelling, analyzing, all grow as branches from the root of CADD education, and a young learner feels bombarded with curiosity, challenge and motivation, all at the same time. It opens up extensive career perspectives for individuals of all ages, and leaves him in awe “Can I actually do so many things with CADD?’. Just imagine the enthusiasm in a learner, when in the blink of a moment, he gets the strength to make a career vision, he determines “This is exactly what I want to do in my life”. Once the interest is ignited, the next step in the quest is to find a fuel to keep it kindled. A correct career guideline and constant motivation, helps a lot to keep the mind set to where it should be. CADD Centre promises to do just that, and more. In 1988, in Chennai, India, CADD Centre rooted itself with a fairly modest start, with only 3 employees and 4 machines. With the leadership of Mr R. Parathasarathy (Vice Chairman), Mr C.R. Vaitheeswaran (Chairman), Mr Karaiadi Selvan (Managing Director) and Mr K. Viswanathan, CADD centre has successfully stepped into its 25th year in 2013, and is still going strong, having established more than 312 franchises in 15 different countries around the world and been rated as Asia’s largest CADD Training network. Having empowered more than 8 Lac professionals with CADD education who are employed now in over 50 countries, CADD centre has also built strong business relationships with some of the greatest software developer companies in the world, Autodesk Inc (USA) being one in the list. It focuses on CAD (Computer Aided Designing), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) education and trainings. Their motto is “Bridging the Gap”—the gap that exists between theoretical education and industry expertise. Their aim is to equip individuals with technological know-how and industry-specific skills, so that they can determine their career path, excel with high productivity and achieve their aspired career goals. CADD Centre’s Curriculum and Product Development Team (CPDT), their Internal Training Academy (ITA), and their day-wise curriculum planning alongside with the latest software knowledge, all coordinate effectively to equip individuals of today, with a superior and a more technologically advanced weapon of tomorrow. They believe LATEST is the best, and tomorrow will always be tougher than yesterday. In a country where the digitization concept was just introduced, and at present blooming with a good potential, CADD Centre’s services were brought into the picture, to help equip the learners of Bangladesh with CADD skills and industry expertise. In the year 2010, Toufiqul Islam Mithu, established his first CADD Centre franchise in Uttara Model Town, Dhaka, with the name of TIM Computer Training Centre, and that was where the journey had begun. His second franchise of CADD Centre has recently been inaugurated in Gazipur, and he hopes to increase this network of CADD training extensively, and make world-class CADD training in within reach to ANYBODY who is interested to learn it. He states “CADD education is for ALL, because it teaches planning and designing, and the entire future is basically a design”. The growing engineering sectors in Bangladesh, and the popularity of project management, have increased the demand of CADD education. CADD education is not limited to AutoCAD training; it should be considered as the “education of tomorrow”. The uncertainty, the risk of tomorrow have required us to make a planning, a blue-print, a DESIGN for tomorrow, to remain equipped to face the changes of tomorrow; a day may arrive soon when to visualize anything without a design, or to move forward without a design, would seem unachievable; a project without a planning would seem unimaginable to accomplish. Therefore “Future is Design” and CADD education would surely equip one to break open the barriers in the dark. You may say, okay, so CADD Centre is basically a software training institute, how is it different?
“The secret lies in the way we teach. Our classes are of 2 hours, where equal attention is given first on the thorough understanding of the different concepts of the software in question, and then comes a one hour session of implementing it by putting the software is use. It gives the students complete opportunity for asking queries, clarifications, and plenty of time for practice. We do not use any photocopied handouts, simply because we do not have to. CADD Centre’s CPDT produces industry-specific courseware, customized to meet the needs of learners from every discipline. Our faculty are trained to bring out the best from the learners. Many students and professionals come to us who are from a general (non-engineering) background, and to give them a proper career guideline, prioritizes high in the responsibility list of the faculty. The teaching method is such that it implants the seed of curiosity and career advancement in the minds of the learners, and the teachers are such that they do not only teach the basic lessons, but they also act as career counsellors” explains Mr Toufiqul. Just a couple of months back, in September, TIM Computer Training Centre had hosted four seminars, basically to impart career guidelines and introduce the uses and benefits of different software. Budding engineers and corporate personnel had made the majority participation. Mr Venkatrao, a technical expert from CADD Centre India, had been present during the seminars, to share his vast CADD knowledge and expertise with the participants. The engineering sector in Bangladesh has a potential, especially the civil and the mechanical engineering. With the rising need of research works being carried out in different universities and research institutes, the demand for an advancement in engineering technology is rising too, and a major part of this technology are the designing , modeling and analyzing software. CADD Centre in Bangladesh avails different superior 3D modeling and analyzing software for the civil and mechanical engineering students and professionals, as well as for electrical engineers and architects, which are either rarely, or hardly ever taught in the existing training institutes and academies in Bangladesh. Certain software, such as ANSYS, CIVIL 3D, REVIT MEP, ARCHICAD, CREO ELEMENTS, MAYA and PRIMAVERA, are quite new in Bangladesh, a few them even unheard of, but their demand is building up, and soon the need for the application of these software will be unavoidable, as Bangladesh develops to be more digitized.
“We want to meet up to that need; we want to avail these superior software, at fairly affordable prices, to ALL students and professionals in every corner of Bangladesh. We want more and more people to know about us, and we will be hosting more seminars, workshops, exhibitions and competitions, to increase awareness that now world-class CADD education is within reach” says Mr Toufiqul. CADD Centre in Bangladesh also has a plan to extend CADD education to school-going students and homemakers in the future. “Stay-at-home moms can learn fashion-designing software, or simply the Adobe collection, which may create a sense of independence and entrepreneurship in their minds” adds a faculty person at TIM Computer Training Centre. CADD Centre in Bangladesh is a revolutionary concept, and amidst the economical crisis in the country, thoroughly believing in this revolutionizing concept may be a little difficult for some. Amidst a crisis where it is difficult to trust one another, amidst an alarming diminish in the appreciation of “value” especially when a market is infested with cheaper duplicates, the RED bloom of CADD Centre maybe perhaps, a little “struggle some”, like a desert rose?
“CADD Centre Bangladesh goes hand-in-hand with the digital concept of Bangladesh; it equips the learners of today with industry-specific skills. It avails a wide array of superior CADD education to the engineers of today, who are the builders of this country.
“The engineers of Bangladesh will be benefitted by it. What our country needs are engineers of superior expertise to make more powerful and more durable structures, better roads and better electronic products for the people of Bangladesh. From the existing engineers of today, we will find our very own product manufacturers, our own automobile industry, our own aeronautical industry, and possibly our own Film Industry, which will add positively to our country’s economical health” admits everyone of TIM Computer Training Centre. Perhaps the entire country will agree with it. A student, Saiful Islam Khan, of Primavera software course at TIM shares, “Before I came here, I was in the dark on how to manage my work projects, but when I came in contact with CADD Centre, I got a good concept regarding project management. I can now independently manage my own projects; it has brought a new era in my project planning and management career”. Hopefully CADD Centre in Bangladesh will be able to bring a new era in the career of millions of other people. One day, probably, and potentially, the desert rose will face the light of awareness and appreciation in this country, and enlighten a wider horizon.
