আজ বিকাল আনুমানিক ৫টায় দৌলতদিয়া ফেরি ঘাটে ফেরিতে উঠতে গিয়ে কুষ্টিয়ার কুমারখালি থেকে ছেড়ে আসা সৌহার্দ্য পরিবহনের একটি বাস নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে পদ্মা নদীতে পড়ে যায় এবং শেষ খবর পাওয়া পর্যন্ত নিখোঁজ রয়েছে। প্রত্যক্ষ দর্শীদের দেয়া তথ্য মতে, বাস চালক তার বাসটি হেলপারের দায়িত্বে দিয়ে চা-পান খাওয়ার জন্য বাস থেকে নেমে যায় এবং হেলপার সেই বাস ফেরিতে উঠানোর চেষ্টা করলে এই দূর্ঘটনা ঘটে।

এই মর্মান্তিক দূর্ঘটনায় Mechanical Engineering Association of City University- MEACU - পরিবার গভীর ভাবে শোকাহত এবং বাস মালিক ও ঐ বাসের চালকের দায়িত্বে অবহেলার তীব্র নিন্দা ও প্রতিবাদ জানাচ্ছে। ভবিষ্যতে আর কোনো পরিবহন কোম্পানি বা চালক যাতে এমন দায়িত্বে অবহেলা না করতে পারে, এজন্য এই দূর্ঘটনার পেছনে দ্বায়ী সকলের কঠোর শাস্তি দাবি করছি।
