Bangladesh’s very first commercially roasted Geisha, a bold declaration that the local specialty coffee scene is coming of age. A watershed moment brought to life by Udoy Coffee.
In the global coffee community, the Geisha is spoken of with a quiet reverence. Originally discovered in the wild Gesha forest of Ethiopia in the 1930s, the varietal remained relatively obscure until it was planted in the high altitudes of Panama in the early 2000s. There, it exploded onto the world stage, shattering auction records and redefining what coffee could taste like.
Geisha is notoriously difficult to grow. It is a fragile, low-yielding plant that demands precise microclimates, high altitudes, and obsessive care. But when nurtured correctly, it produces a cup unlike any other.
Instead of the heavy, chocolatey, or nutty profiles people expect from standard coffee, Geisha is ethereal. It is brilliantly tea-like, boasting complex floral aromatics, a sparkling acidity, and a lingering sweetness.
It is the undisputed crown jewel of specialty coffee, and Udoy Coffee is proud to be the first roaster to bring it to Bangladesh.
