From screen to site. 👨‍💻🏗️

These new driver platforms installed on the railway line in Junee are a great example of a project coming to life exactly as intended. Cresco Australia completed the fabrication drawings for Roddy Eng , who has done a fantastic job fabricating the platforms and delivering a quality outcome on site.

‼️ Check out the comparison between the Tekla model and the real-life installation! We always enjoy seeing a project progress from detailed design into construction.

🤗 We have enjoyed collaborating with Roddy Eng on another project and are proud to have played a part in bringing this one to life.

Cresco has delivered civil and structural engineering on solar farms across Australia

This image captures what the early stages of a solar farm really look like, long before the panels are installed.

It is the groundwork that helps the site function effectively:

🛣️ access roads designed to accommodate construction traffic and ongoing maintenance
📈 levels and tolerances coordinated to suit panel support structures
💧 drainage designed to direct water where it should go, not across tracks and work areas
🍃 erosion and sediment controls to minimise downstream environmental impacts
🌳 staging and sequencing that allows construction to progress efficiently, section by section

This stage is critical because well-considered decisions early in the project can reduce time, cost, and rework later, while setting the site up for smoother construction as the first steel starts to rise.

Have you worked on a large-scale infrastructure or energy project before? What was the biggest delivery challenge on site?

This might be the part we love most. The reveal. ✨

🔨Months earlier it’s all lines on paper, coordination calls, and working through the details. Then suddenly it becomes a real space, and you see what happens when engineering, architecture, builders, interior design and everything in between all pull in the same direction.

☀️ Project Nero with Lancaster Homes is a great example. Strong architectural intent, beautiful finishes, and the structure doing its job quietly in the background, so the space feels effortless.

💗 We still love to look back on this one. We are still proud to have delivered the structural engineering, and even prouder to have seen the outcome once everything comes together.

Did you know Cresco is the original inventor of the technology behind the system?

🤗 That means we’re uniquely placed to help our clients get the best possible Biax slab outcomes. Designs that don’t just meet engineering requirements, but are also practical to build and set up to save time and money on site.

💯 We’ve delivered hundreds of Biax slabs across Australia and continue to lead in this space by focusing on the details that matter most during construction. Coordination, set downs, penetrations, reinforcement detailing, and pour-day practicality.

🤔 Thinking about Biax for your next build?

A great result starts early. Why not start with a preliminary design so you can confirm the system is right for your project!

Call or email us to get started with a preliminary design for your next build.

We love this part 🩵

That moment a design stops being a drawing and starts becoming a real space. Light, volume, and structure all coming together on site.

It’s easy to focus on the “wow” features (vaulted ceilings, big openings, clean lines), but what makes them work is the quieter stuff behind the scenes: clear load paths, the right spans, the right connections, and details that let the build run smoothly without surprises.

At Cresco Australia, we’re big on practical engineering, working with architecture designs that look great, and actually get built the way they’re intended to.

What feature are you most excited to include in your next build? A vaulted ceiling, big windows, or something else?

🔧 Tool of the Month: Topcon HiPer VR (Field Survey)

We’ve talked about this one before, because it’s a staple in our field kit.

The Topcon HiPer VR is our everyday grab-and-go survey tool. When we’re on site and need quick, dependable data (levels, key features, setout points etc), this is what we reach for. We can throw it in the ute, jump on site, and quickly capture what we need.

Less fuss. Faster setup. Clean data.

And that means better decisions in the office, with fewer assumptions and fewer surprises later.

What’s your “can’t-live-without-it” tool on site?

You’ll find our engineers behind a desk… but you’ll also find us out here.
On the ground. In boots. With the crew. 👷👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

✨ We’re big believers that good engineering is practical, and sometimes that means getting out there, seeing it first-hand, and working alongside the team when it matters.

Cresco Australia had a great night out at the 31st 100 Club Gala Evening last Friday.

Hosted in the MTC marquee, the black-tie event was an incredible evening featuring amazing catering, a talented DJ/saxophone player, a special visit and comedy segment by Peter Rowsthorn, and of course, the much-anticipated race draw.

As our first year being part of the 100 Club, it was a great experience to attend and enjoy the chance to network and connect with so many local businesses throughout the evening.

Unfortunately, we didn’t take out the main prize for the Gold Cup, we did however win the Ted Ryder Cup race day!

It was a great event, a great atmosphere, and a great way to be part of the local business community. 🩵

Projet Complete 🙌

Cresco Australia was pleased to provide the structural engineering for the new amenities block at Whitton Malt House, designed by Frank Tobotta and delivered as part of the new caravan park, which opens this weekend. 🚙

It’s always rewarding to contribute to projects that help shape regional destinations and create spaces that people will enjoy for years to come. ☀️

We’ve enjoyed working with the Whitton Malt House team on this project and are looking forward to working together again.

A great result for everyone involved 🩵

A common question that gets asked is "When should I reach out to a civil engineer?"

Civil engineering should come in right at the start, because levels, drainage and access often decide what’s possible before design is final.

Engage a civil engineer at these stages:

📌 Site due diligence/feasibility: understand constraints early (flood, easements, levels, services, access, council requirements)

📃 Concept planning: set levels, earthworks approach, drainage strategy and access so the project is realistic

✔️ DA/approvals: prepare the civil package and coordinate with authorities

✏️ Detailed design / pre-construction: refine roads, drainage, pavements, services and construction staging

👷‍♂️ Construction stage: support RFIs, variations, unexpected ground conditions, and compliance checks

✅ Early civil input prevents redesign, approval delays, and “we didn’t allow for that” moments during construction.
