This visual effect is called oil canning. A range of factors can influence its appearance, including material properties, structural accuracy, and handling and installation practices.

Long roof runs can add complexity before the sheets even reach site.

On larger projects, sheet length, transport restrictions, truck or crane access and thermal expansion may all influence how a commercial or industrial roof is designed and delivered.

Combining Stramit Speed Deck Ultra® Concealed Fixed Decking with the Stramit FarLap® roof lap joint system provides another way to approach longer roof runs.

Stramit FarLap® allows multiple overlapping sheets to be used where roof runs exceed maximum sheet lengths, or where getting longer sheets onto site may be difficult. It also allows the roof support structure to be designed and fixed in a single plane, without the need for a traditional step joint.

Depending on the project, the combination can offer:

• Longer roof runs – FarLap® allows multiple sheets to be joined to create longer runs on a single-plane support structure.
• Greater flexibility for site access – using shorter sheet lengths may help where transport, truck or crane access is limited.
