One project. Different profiles. Different finishes. One architectural vision.

St Paul’s School Innovation Precinct is a future-focused learning environment where architecture plays an important role in how students learn, collaborate and interact.

Creating it required flexibility when specifying roof and wall cladding, materials and finishes across the building and precinct.

The solution brought together Stramit Corrugated and Longspan® roofing, Monoclad® wall cladding and Quad Gutter in COLORBOND® steel Monument® and Shale Grey™, alongside Premier 300® wall cladding in UniCote® LUX Maple.

The specification supported:

• Different roof and wall cladding applications across the precinct
• A combination of steel profiles and finishes
• The introduction of a timber-look finish for added warmth and texture
• Structural integrity and durability
• Greater flexibility in achieving the architectural expression

Working closely with Towill Design Group and St Paul’s, Stramit brought product and engineering expertise as the architectural vision developed.

Specifying with confidence is knowing what’s possible and having the expertise to help work through the options.

Not sure whether your roof colour choice could affect project performance requirements?

Stramit can help you assess both appearance and the technical considerations that may influence your specification.

A roof colour can be selected to complement the architecture, respond to the surrounding landscape or create a defining feature of the building. However, colour can also influence how much solar energy the roof surface absorbs or reflects.

That's why Solar Absorptance (SA) can be an important consideration during specification. Lower SA values indicate less solar energy is absorbed, and the value of the selected colour may be relevant to energy efficiency requirements for the project. Lower SA colours may also help meet requirements such as NCC or BASIX.

With a broad selection of colours and finishes available, Stramit can help you assess colour choices alongside the technical information needed to support project requirements and design confidence.

Confidence in technical information starts with confidence in how products are tested.

Stramit’s testing laboratory at Erskine Park, NSW, is accredited by NATA, Australia’s national accreditation body, strengthening our in-house testing capability.

For customers and specifiers, this means:

• Testing undertaken through a NATA-accredited laboratory
• Robust and traceable testing processes
• In-house testing capability supported by Stramit’s technical team
• Reduced reliance on external testing providers

This accreditation strengthens the testing capability behind Stramit’s ongoing technical and product development work.

Stramit's Cardiff branch is now open, re-establishing a dedicated presence in Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Operating from a shared site with Laminex Australia, the facility enables products to be received, consolidated and distributed locally, improving availability and reducing lead times across the region.

Customers also have access to a locally based team, combining technical expertise and product knowledge with a strong understanding of the Newcastle and Hunter market.

The new operation is the result of close collaboration between Stramit, Laminex and support teams across the business. Together, they have created an efficient facility that makes the best use of existing infrastructure while strengthening service for customers in the region.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the Cardiff site a reality.

When performance and sustainability targets are part of the brief, the technical details behind the specification matter.

The Winning Appliances distribution centre at Kemps Creek, NSW was designed to support high-volume operations while meeting strong sustainability and performance targets.

Across a building envelope of this scale, the roof and wall cladding solution needed to support thermal performance and long-term durability, while also allowing for efficient construction and installation.

Stramit Speed Deck Ultra® in COLORBOND® Coolmax® steel was selected for the roof cladding, with Stramit Monoclad® in COLORBOND® steel with a Classic finish in Dover White™ specified for the wall cladding.

Key benefits that supported the project’s requirements:

• Higher solar reflectance and reduced solar heat absorption, helping support the project’s thermal performance objectives
• Design decisions aligned to 6 Star Green Star performance expectations
• Clip-based fixing helping reduce fixing time across the 80,000 m² roof area
• A robust wall cladding solution suited to the scale and continuous use of the facility
• Technical guidance supporting energy efficiency, spans and fixing patterns, delivery sequencing, maintenance and warranty requirements

The result is a large-scale industrial facility where product selection, technical performance and installation requirements were considered together from specification through to construction.

Start with information you can rely on before the install.

Experienced roofers and installers know their trade. But when you’re working with a different profile, fixing system or application, knowing where to check the product requirements matters.

Stramit provides technical manuals, installation supplements, and product information to help you understand the details before and during installation.

Depending on the product, that can include information on fixing sequences, spans, fasteners, sheet handling, cutting, overlaps and other installation considerations.

It doesn’t replace the experience you bring to the job. It gives you the Stramit product information to back it up.

And when you need more than the manual, you can talk to our Tech Support team.

The environment around a building should be part of the design and specification.

A building near the coast faces different conditions from one in an urban, rural or industrial environment.

Exposure to moisture, salt, pollutants, temperature and other environmental factors can influence decisions around roof and wall cladding, including the material, coating and finish selected.

Stramit offers a broad range of materials, coatings and finishes, with options such as UniCote® steel and ZAM® coated steel forming part of the range, helping project teams consider material selection alongside broader performance and design requirements.

It means material selection can consider both sides of the equation. The architectural outcome you’re looking for and the environment the building will need to perform in.

Understand the environment first. Then specify for it. Talk to your local Stramit team early in your project.

Do your takeoffs reflect the way products will actually be installed on site?

Missing dimensions, incomplete drawings or overlooked details can quickly lead to material waste, quote variations and avoidable costs once a project is underway.

In the October edition of Technical Insider, we take a closer look at the factors that influence takeoff accuracy, including:

• The information required to prepare a reliable takeoff
• Roof pitch, sheet length and cladding quantity calculations
• Batten spacing and structural support considerations
• Fastener, flashing and rainwater product allowances
• Wall cladding requirements around openings and sheet orientation
• Common mistakes that can impact material quantities and project costs

Whether you're estimating, quoting or planning material requirements, a well-prepared takeoff helps ensure the right products are specified, quantities are accurate, and waste is kept to a minimum.

Building or renovating? Make your builder part of the product conversation.

As a homeowner, you know how you want your new home or renovation to feel. Your builder brings something different to the conversation. Experience with materials, products and what works in practice and location.

Put the two together and you can make more informed choices about the roof and wall cladding that will become such a visible part of your home.

Start with the things that matter to you. The look, colour, profile and finish. Then ask your builder about the practical considerations. Your location, the application, material options and other project requirements.

Stramit supports builders with roof and wall cladding, rainwater systems, structural solutions, technical information and product expertise to help inform those conversations.

Your vision. Your builder's experience and Stramit behind the products.
