Fine work from a pair of the best in Excel racing. Three podiums for the weekend earned .buckley96 the championship at the last round yesterday 🥇 with taking 4th in every race and the championship 🏁 in only his second year in the category, hot on the heels of the competition.

We’ve just increased our stock and have freshly serviced and scrutineered gearboxes ready for purchase or hire, along with rebuild kits for those that need their current units given a new life; all seals, bearings, synchros and o-rings replaced. We’re late to the party, but what a performance from and the team 🏆 Someone has to win but only the foremost drivers can, and when in a machine prepped by the slickest guys and girls in the industry. One small piece of the puzzle being a .com.au built transaxle driving them along.

Anyone who’s anyone knows how the race ran, but the feedback from our colleagues all over Europe and the US proves how good the show is and the global level that the sport is running at. With three rounds left, our guess is that there’s some exciting racing still to come in 2025 👀

Two sides to the coin over The Mountain 🏁

No forgiveness around Mount Panorama, no matter how small the mistake. Both car & driver will be back, you can’t keep a good man down.

Car 27 back in title contention with behind the wheel will make the last round at Adelaide even more exciting to watch. Win or lose the guy’s shown his talent all season in & outperforming his teammate in through Enduro season 🏎️

Another Hyundai Excel race box refreshed and ready to go.

Essentially a road car gearbox, but put through the stresses and strains of a racing season. Running hotter, for longer and at higher speeds than their road going counterparts, the internals deteriorate much sooner. There’s a good chance that if you’re experiencing shifting problems, it’s down to worn synchro rings. Here you can see the difference a fresh component makes. A noisy or clunky gearbox is also a sign of faulty or out of life bearings, seals or gears.

No such thing as an off-season. We’ve been quiet on the socials but never busier in the workshop. Cars re-shelled 🏎️ components serviced 🔧 gearboxes rebuilt ⚙️ trucks packed 🚐 shakedowns, tests and races 🏁

Good luck to everyone competing at the Grand Prix event this week, we’ll be in the paddock everyday so come and say hi

Congratulations to and the team who come away from Bathurst with the Michelin Sprint Challenge championship win, and a third place handshake for in the car, even after missing the season opener.

Special mention goes to who put in the hard work this year, consistent and clean racing saw him finish in the top ten of every race since joining the squad. Good things to come from this guy in 2024.

Another motorcycle through the shop last week for some summer touring prep.

This Triumph Tiger was suffering from the common starter motor heat soak issue, bad news for a stall at the lights on a hot day. Add to that a hesitation when firing from stone cold. An upgraded unit from fixed both of these, she now starts first time, every time.

While we were in there we measured and re-shimmed the valve clearances & checked the timing, fitting all new OEM seals and gaskets. An air filter regeneration, new spark plugs, fresh coolant and an oil & filter change sets her up for another year around the Victorian twisties.

Huge congratulations to all the guys and girls taking the top step at Gold Coast on Sunday, sporting a Shiftrac Engineering built transaxle. Having worked alongside the team for a number of years, we’ve seen how hard all the whole crew have worked to get where they are now and we’re excited to see how high they can reach, with many more well-deserved podiums no doubt on the way.

Another typical Gold Coast event, the concrete walls always win. Add to the mix a bit of wet weather in practice and you end up with a few cars missing from the paddock in Adelaide.

Plenty of service work this week for the team, and another trip to Mt Panorama for Bathurst International in a couple weeks. We’ll see you there.

The XTRAC 1293 Supercars Transaxle

Since prototyping in 2018 and becoming the control gearbox in 2019, the unit has been given various major and minor updates over the last 4 years to make it one of the most reliable GEN3 components, and one of the few carried over from COTF.

Our director, Ed, ran the #78 entry that prototyped the very first XTRAC 1294 in Australia, so it’s fair to say we know a bit about these gearboxes.
