Commercial and industrial doors need to handle frequent use while providing suitable security and reliable day-to-day operation. While the door itself is important, the hardware fitted to it can have just as much influence on how the complete doorset performs.

At Larnec, we can help you consider the door and hardware as a complete system, rather than treating each component separately.

Larnec is proud to have supplied the steel-clad doors for Kilmore Racecourse's new barn and tie-up stalls — a state-of-the-art facility built to protect trainers and horses through the toughest race meetings.

The build includes wide internal pathways for safe passage, a dedicated trainers' area, wash bays and an indoor parade ring — and our steel-clad doorsets were selected to stand up to the demands of a working equine facility, day in, day out.

As Kilmore Racing Club Chairman Ian Wood put it: "These facilities will prove immensely valuable both during race meetings and for those in training here at Kilmore."

It's a great example of what Larnec brings to sports and equine facilities: durable, purpose-built door solutions designed for high-traffic, high-demand environments.

Break-ins don't wait for a weak spot. Don't give them one.

A solid steel-clad doorset is a great start, but the hardware behind it is what finishes the job.

That's where our anti-burglary hardware range comes in. They're small additions to any order, but it's the kind of upgrade that pays for itself in peace of mind. A few extra dollars on hardware is nothing compared to the cost of a break-in, and it's an easy way to add real value to the doors you're already supplying.

Talk to your Larnec rep about adding anti-burglary hardware to your next order, or ask what else we can provide to help you protect your customers.

The Deadbolt.

A standard latch is designed to stop a door swinging open. It's not designed to stop someone forcing it open.

A deadbolt changes that. Once thrown, the bolt extends deep into the frame or strike plate, independent of the latch mechanism. That means:

✅No shimming. Standard latches can be slipped with a card or thin tool. A deadbolt's solid throw removes that option entirely.

✅No kick-in. Force applied to the door has to overcome the bolt embedded in the frame, not just a spring-loaded latch. That's a much harder ask.

✅A dedicated strike point. Paired with a reinforced strike plate, the deadbolt spreads impact force across the frame instead of concentrating it on the latch edge, which is usually the first thing to fail.

It's a simple mechanism, but it's doing a different job to the latch entirely. Where the latch keeps the door shut, the deadbolt keeps it secured.

Ask your rep about adding a deadbolt upgrade to your next order.

Ever wondered what “PA Door” actually means?

It stands for Personal Access Door - purpose-built for safe, everyday pedestrian access.

Rather than relying on a large roller door for people coming and going, a PA door provides a dedicated entry point designed for regular foot traffic, helping improve site safety, security and convenience.

At Larnec, we manufacture heavy-duty, Australian-made PA doors engineered for sheds, commercial and industrial environments.

Accessibility doesn’t stop at door width.

The right hardware can make every door easier to open, safer to use, and more practical for everyone.

From ergonomic lever handles and adjustable door closers to keyless entry systems, small upgrades can significantly improve accessibility without replacing the entire doorset.

At Larnec, we supply hardware solutions designed to complement our personal access door range.

The terms are often used interchangeably, but they refer to related parts of the same assembly:

The frame is the complete structure that surrounds a door opening — it typically includes the head (top), the sill or threshold (bottom, where applicable), and the jambs (sides).

The jamb specifically refers to the vertical side pieces of the frame, which the door is hinged to on one side and meets the latch or lock on the other.

In practical terms, when people ask about “door jambs,” they’re usually asking about the whole frame assembly and how it’s built, installed, and configured — so this guide covers both together.
