At this Darlinghurst terrace renovation, Madeleine Blanchfield Architects shaped Krause Emperor Bricks in Ghost into striking "funnels of light" - sculpted brick forms that draw daylight deep into the home.

At Alba in Clovelly Beach, NSW, custom Krause Bricks in Ghost rise from the balustrade, wrap the columns, and carry straight through from the sheltered portico into the open-plan living and dining spaces, unifying the whole home in one continuous, tactile material.

Paired with timber the pale, neutral tone sits quietly against the coastal light - built to soften and fade with the salt air over time, the way that the resident family of surfers understand beach living should.

Krause Bricks will be in Sydney for Saturday Indesign 🧱

We're excited to take part this September, at Sydney's leading event for architects and designers. Expect craft, conversation, and a closer look at what's next for brick, including the chance to design the brick of the future with a shot at having your design made and fired in our Stawell kilns.

If you're in Sydney, come find us as part of the weekend's programme: https://krausebricks.com/saturday-indesign/

We love sharing the art of brickmaking with the next generation of designers.

It was an absolute pleasure hosting the Master of Architecture students from The University of Melbourne for a factory tour recently. The weather perfectly turned it on for us, which meant we were able to take the whole group out to explore the clay pit and see exactly where our handmade bricks begin!

A big thank you to the team at Wardle and Melbourne School of Design for helping organise such a great visit.

A hit-and-miss screen of Krause Bricks in Ghost scatters light across the bold façade of Curl Curl House, through a bathroom where a freestanding tub sits bathed in dappled sun.

Suddenly it's not just structure, it's atmosphere.

Golden hour at Pippins 🌤️

As the sun drops behind the gums, Krause Emperor Bricks in Ghost catch a warm glow, their elongated profile stretching along the home's deep eaves and low, horizontal lines.

By day, that same neutral tone sits as a calm, textural counterpoint to the greenery around it - but it's this last light that really shows what the brick can do.

Krause Classic 76mm Bricks in Old Melbourne Town highlight the lower facade of 271 Spring Street in the Melbourne C*D, picking up the warm reds and oranges within the historic streetscape.

As John Wardle Architects associate Paul Holden puts it: "We wanted something that respected the heritage bricks, but at the same time could stand on its own and add a bit of life to the design."

Krause Emperor Bricks in Grampian Blues seamlessly transition from outside in, creating a warm, textural backdrop for the kitchen of this Madeleine Blanchfield designed home.

The deep, layered tones of the brickwork anchor the space, working beautifully alongside natural stone and timber to create a rich, tactile dining and entertaining zone.
