The Australian Standard AS/NZS 1170.2:2021 outlines the procedures for determining wind actions on structures. This standard is essential for ensuring that buildings can withstand the specific wind conditions of their location, thereby safeguarding structural integrity and occupant safety.

Key considerations include:

✅ Site Wind Speed: Determining the regional wind speed and applying factors such as terrain, height, and topography to assess the design wind speed.
✅ Pressure Calculations: Calculating wind pressures on different parts of the structure, including walls, roofs, and structural components, to ensure all elements are designed to resist expected loads.

AS1170.4 Compliance: Don’t Overlook Non-Structural Components!

However...AS1170.4 Section 8 highlights something as critical, non-structural components like HVAC and electrical equipment, pipework, cable trays, ceilings walls and essential services.
