How is the long term testing of our products going ?

Well we reached a few milestones with the A3 in the past 60k kms since we installed the taller 5th gear and wavetrac L*D , n/a cams and lightweight alternator pulley :

Longest distance on 1 tank : 1150km
400,000km mark broken
Number 2 injector completely failed
Throttle body number 2 failed
Coolant fl**ge 4 way failed for a third time
Steering rack started leaking and was replaced
Turtle number 10 was rescued from the road
Turbo survived full boost for nearly 10 minutes climbing the mountain at Toowoomba towing an S3 🤣

Only a small product with slight weight reduction being tested . So far over 1000km done without issues .

Will suit 1.8t engine for mk4 Gti/polo Gti / A3 and S3 and also 4 cylinder golf 4 engines (1.6/1.8/2.0)

To most of you it looks like another recent manifold to turbo gasket failure on the 1.8t . What you don’t know is this was fitted 250k+ kms ago ! It’s survived multiple racing events as well as towing tens of thousands of kms , sometimes for long periods under full boost up mountains . What’s unique about this failure is it wasnt just a split and leak like the usual case ( gasket shown in picture ) , this completely blew the gasket out the side . The remaining parts of the gasket had essentially welded themselves onto the manifold and could only be removed with a grinder ! Another item to note is 370k kms on this manifold and no cracks .
This manifold was ported long ago so no chance of heat spots and it has smooth runners to the turbo .
So when you’re doing a turbo swap and need some gaskets , remember this post !

With our 14th birthday coming up there is no better time to treat ourselves to some ITB goodness for one of our long term VR6 projects .
Although engine specs will be finalised shortly it will as a base be a destroked mk5 R32 motor to comply with Speedcar rules . It will be the first VW powered car to compete in over a 1/4 of a century once it’s complied and tech inspected . The only other vehicle manufacturers engines within this category are Toyota , Honda , Hyundai and Porsche .

So we came across a unique issue with an 8L S3 turbo . The insert had stayed with the manifold unscrewing itself out of the turbo . The turbo itself never had the bracket attached allowing issues to arise with the manifold . After looking around for the insert and seeing the crazy prices that were charged I decided to have my own made for nearly a 1/4 of the price ! These will be on the website shortly and there is plenty in stock !

I often joke about being able to jump in my A3 and drive to Perth and back without issues , well , I almost did it , Sydney - Adelaide - Sydney - Brisbane - Sydney .

First titanium pipe is fitted and tested to the A3 1.8t .
Compressor surge has been reduced although the noise has barely increased .
This will be a must on any fwd mk4 platform to gain a bit of power without too much extra noise .
