EDC recently provided the opportunity for some Perth office-based staff to visit site (Port Hedland) and gain a better understanding of the operations behind the projects we support day to day.
Thank you to BHP for the tour through Port Hedland and for showing the team the balance machines and minesite operations. Seeing everything up close gave them some great perspective on the scale and complexity of the work being delivered. Special thanks to Chris Corke, Craig McKervill and the Port Hedland teams, and Dan Drysdale for the quick post-tour catch up around Pretty Pool before heading home.
A very worthwhile experience and great cultural initiative by EDC.

As we wrap up another fantastic year, we want to send a big thank-you to our wonderful team and valued clients for making 2025 so memorable. Your hard work, passion, and support have made all the difference, and we’re grateful to every one of you.

Last week’s Christmas party was a blast! We shared a relaxed team lunch and got a little competitive with some axe throwing. It was the perfect way to unwind and connect outside the office. Shoutout to our top throwers: Jared, Kieren, and Rob Clark!

We wrapped up our last Town Hall of the year by celebrating all the personal and team wins that helped us grow. It’s inspiring to look back and see just how far we’ve come together.

EDC will be kicking off our holiday break on Friday, 18 December 2025, and we’ll be back in the office on 5 January 2026. Enjoy your well-deserved time off, rest up, recharge, and get ready for an exciting 2026! We can’t wait for more wins, more growth, and even better times together next year.

Project Success - Shiploader Boom Pivot Pin Replacement

Scope:
* Develop the engineering methodology to replace the Shiploader boom pivot pin.
* Perform engineering analysis to support the methodology (machine strength and stability)
* Design custom tooling to enable safe and efficient ex*****on of the work. This included:
* Adjustable restraints to support load in all directions whilst the pin was replaced, and a custom mass frame to support the boom tip.
* Provide day and night on-site engineering support during ex*****on.
* Ex*****on was completed by Balance Machine Services (BMS)

Challenge:
* A unique job. Technical challenges faced with location on the wharf.
* Developing plans and mitigations for the ‘What-if’ scenarios.

Success:
* Work completed safely and ahead of schedule.
* Special tooling was fit for purpose and worked well.
* Shiploader always remained within the limits of the engineering assessment. Measured loads were close to the expected.
* Collaboration between clients and EDC.

As we wrap up another financial year, the EDC team took a moment to celebrate — and what a year it’s been!
We’ve seen strong growth in both staff and projects, tackled new challenges, and continued to evolve as a team. With building extensions on the horizon, we’re excited about the future and the opportunities it brings to better support our clients and our people.
Our EOFY function was not just a chance to reflect, but also to relax, connect, and enjoy each other’s company. It was great to share the evening with such a passionate and committed team.
A big thanks to our clients and partners for your ongoing support. And a special mention to Variety - the Children's Charity WA for the incredible work they do — we’re proud to support such an important cause.

EDC is pleased to release our latest capability statement. Now including our two new additions:
1️ Design and Drafting – Delivering practical, fit-for-purpose solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.
2️ Structural Engineering – Focusing on bulk material handling and industrial structures predominately within the mining and resource industry.

These new services complement EDC’s existing core engineering services that typically result in comprehensive design outcomes. This enables EDC to offer a complete engineering, design, and drafting solution—from initial concept through to shop detailing, fabrication, and er****on.

Pressure Vessels – Design Verification

Pressure equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air receivers, carbon filter vessels, air/oil separators, condensers, and accumulators are subject to the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and Regulations in Australia. The design must be registered with the Regulatory Authority for those assessed as hazard level A, B, C, and D as per the criteria in AS 4343.
As part of the registration process, the pressure equipment design is required to be assessed by a qualified verifier for conformity with the relevant pressure vessel design standard such as AS 1210, ASME BPVC VIII Division 1 or 2, EN 13445, PD5500, etc.

EDC provides design verification and registration services for pressure vessel and heat exchanger design. Our team can help to verify and register the design with the Regulatory Authority, including preparing the verification calculations and general arrangement drawings if required for internal documentation.

🎄 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As we wrap up another incredible year, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our amazing staff and valued clients for making 2024 a truly special year. Your hard work, dedication, and support have been essential to our success, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

Last week, we had a blast at our Christmas party, where we enjoyed a team lunch followed by some friendly competition at the bowling alley. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season and connect outside of the office. Congratulations to Jack who cracked 200 (217!!) and took home the annual trophy!

We also had our final Town Hall of the year, where we reflected on the many individual and collective achievements that have helped us grow as a company. It was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come, and how much we’ve accomplished together.

Here’s to a well-deserved break and a bright start to 2025. We look forward to more successes, more growth, and more amazing moments together in the year ahead.
