Sneak peak of the new fabricated wide guards!
Can't wait till I get these buttoned up!

New tool day!
I was tired of cutting steel with a grinder and came across the cold cut mitre saw and damn I'm impressed!

Got a little happy with the grinder and went a little crazy but all for good reasons. I have made the arch as large as I can whilst retaining the original inner wheel well. This is to allow my 35s or possibly bigger to have plenty of clearance when at full bump. Dont worry they are getting covered by a set of custom metal outer guards to tue the whole thing together. Before any one thinks im leaving it like this 🤣

RHS sill reinforcement pretty much there! Didn't want the car looking good and then damaging the sill on the first rock. Drivers side was rusty so I grafted in RHS box section for added strength. The difference is huge and now I can jack the car without worrying. More photos after I smooth it out.

As I'm running the 8hp transmission controlled by race gen1, it's only fitting to utilize the clutch emulator function.

I repurposed a brake pedal assembly from another project, modifying the original clutch assembly by integrating the new mechanism. With the mechanism in place, I focused on adjusting the pedal heights and welding it into position.

The upgraded pedal assembly features springs for clutch feel and a rotary encoder sending a variable PWM signal to the ECU, enabling smooth take-offs and clutch dumps like a manual.

Hard at work creating the schematic for my new engine harness! Forgot how much is involved in this process 😳.

I wasted no time in installing my newly arrived intercooler. To facilitate the process, I utilized some precut metal, which proved to be an ideal fit due to its precise length and alignment with the bonnet latch following minor adjustments.

I then folded the tab for the bonnet latch and also folded a 10mm section to the rear to enhance rigidity. Next, I created two tabs to align with the existing bolt holes and TIG welded them to the top bracket.

When designing the bottom mounts, I employed a cardboard-aided design approach. Upon finalizing a design, I cut the components from the same material, folded them, and TIG welded strengthening tabs. To accommodate the mounts, I removed material from the lower valance, ensuring a flush fit, and welded the edges to maintain structural integrity. The brackets were then test-fitted, and holes were marked and drilled. Once complete, they were bolted into place and welded to the valance.

The patrol's next task required the installation of the Mini Cooper condenser, chosen for its size, affordability, and built-in dryer. I used cardboard to protect the radiator and mark the mounting tab locations. A cardboard template of the bracket was created to facilitate visualization. The necessary shape was cut from sheet steel, and the mounting hole was drilled. The bracket's weakness prompted me to add bead roller details for reinforcement. Once all brackets were fabricated, I tacked them in place, mounted the condenser to check fitment, and then fully welded it. The area was then cleaned and painted for protection until the bay is painted.

Attended the local Sugar city powerfest over the weekend and I must say what a cracking day it was! Weather was amazing, cars were on point and the rubber was flying! What more could you ask for! Definitely gave me a boost of motivation to crack on with the patrol build!
