Reconciliation starts with action.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is a time to reflect on our shared history and consider how we can each contribute to a more inclusive future.

This year’s theme, “All In,” is a reminder that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. It calls on all of us to take steps towards more inclusive and respectful communities.

At MRAEL, we are committed to creating inclusive opportunities, supporting diverse career pathways, and building respectful relationships. We recognise and value the strengths, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Going all in isn’t a one-week commitment — it’s something we carry forward in the way we work, connect and support our communities.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

After 14 years as Group CEO of IntoWork, Poul Bottern has recently tendered his resignation, effective from the end of June this year, as he pursues other business interests.

The Board of IntoWork would like to acknowledge and thank Poul for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication, expertise and strategic guidance over the past 14 years, building IntoWork into the large, respected and leading provider in the sector it is today.

Given Poul’s focus over the coming weeks to ensure an effective handover including working with our Boards on governance matters, we have appointed Christine Zechowski as Acting Group CEO, whilst we recruit for an ongoing Group CEO. Christine has been with IntoWork for many years, including as Group Chief Commercial Officer. She is joined by a strong Executive team and experienced CEOs, so IntoWork is in good hands.

In communicating with Staff, Poul noted: It has been a pleasure and privilege to lead IntoWork with the Board and Leadership Team. My highlights have been many, from our growth of 125 to 2,600 skilled staff, expansion across Australia and New Zealand, and increasing services for the most marginalised and disadvantaged members of our community. However, the largest highlight for me has been the pleasure of working with the fantastic group of people within IntoWork as well as our business partners and the broader sectors we engage with!

We thank Poul for his significant contribution and wish him and his family the very best for the future.

Apprentice and Employment Business Consultant, Kasia McKenzie, spending the day the Tullawong Pathways Expo yesterday talking with students about what comes next after school.

We attended alongside our IntoWork Australia group partner the Australian Trade Training College RTO # 31399 (ATTC), giving students a clear view of how training and employment pathways connect in real life.

The Year 12 students came through ready to have real conversations about their next steps, asking thoughtful questions about apprenticeships and where different trades can lead. Later in the day, the Year 9 students brought plenty of energy and made quick work of the lolly bowl 🍬

There was strong interest across mechanical, diesel fitting, engineering, plumbing and electrotechnology, with many students keen to understand how to get started and what those roles look like day to day.

We were also well looked after, with a coffee and cake stand serving homemade brownies and apple crumble muffins, a welcome break during a full day on site.

A big congratulations to Adham (Year 9), who took home one of our MRAEL prize packs, including a backpack, water bottle and beanie 🎉

Days like this matter. Being present, having real conversations, and helping young people see a clear path from school into work. That’s how we build strong connections, support confident choices, and create real opportunities in our communities.

🔧 We’re proud to celebrate Jet Wallace and Ryan Toshack as they commence their School‑based Apprenticeships with MRAEL, hosted with Taylored Automotive in Dysart. 🎉

Both Jet and Ryan are currently completing Year 11 at Dysart State High School and are working towards a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

Their journey began through work experience organised through the school, where the team at Taylored Automotive were impressed by how professionally they conducted themselves and their genuine interest in light vehicle mechanical work.

Since commencing their school‑based apprenticeships, both have shown strong keenness to learn and a willingness to apply the skills they’re gaining through training. They’ve already proven to be a great addition to the workshop, with their trainers pleased with their progress so far.

A big thank you to Seamus Taylor and the team at Taylored Automotive for supporting local young people and championing school‑based pathways in the Dysart community. We’re excited to see where this journey takes you both. 💙

A huge congratulations to Charlie Frankish on completing her Cert III in Accounts Administration 👏

Charlie joined QVC Group in February 2024, straight after finishing Year 12, and quickly stood out for her strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn. What started as an Administration Assistant role has since grown into her current position as an Accounts & Administration Officer.

Seeing her enthusiasm and ability to pick things up quickly, QVC Group invested in Charlie’s development early on. She embraced every opportunity — taking on new tasks, stepping outside her comfort zone and continuing to push forward, even when challenges and technical setbacks came up along the way.

Since then, Charlie has become a reliable and valued member of the team, known for her professionalism and readiness to help wherever needed. Her confidence, knowledge and capability have continued to grow throughout her time with the business.

Completing her traineeship while managing the day-to-day demands of her role is a reflection of her commitment and determination. As shared by QVC Group, her achievement speaks to her strong work ethic, willingness to learn and genuine dedication to her professional development.
