From customer engines heading to the dyno, to a C32 rebuild progressing through the workshop and a 793D 3516 High Displacement going through paint and final fit-out, there’s a lot that goes into getting these engines ready to return to work.

This year, some of the Paton Diesel Services team swapped the workshop for the footy field as the PDS Pirates in the TRL Mackay competition.
And they didn’t do too badly either… finishing the season as Division 2 Champions!

If you’ve ever wondered what a heavy diesel workshop looks like, well, there are usually a lot of people working inside, around or underneath some very big components.

But behind all that is some serious capability.

With purpose-built facilities, including a dedicated blast and paint booth, every rebuild and overhaul that leaves our workshop is finished to the high standard our clients expect.

Based in Mackay, we support the mining and heavy earthmoving industries with heavy diesel engine and component overhauls, machine rebuilds, specialised machining and onsite support.

When downtime isn’t an option, having the right component ready to go can make all the difference.

Our Service Exchange Program gives mining and heavy earthmoving operations access to pre-built engines and components.

The big advantage of the program is reducing downtime. If a component fails in a machine, we can have an exchange component sitting on the shelf ready to go. It gets out to site, gets the machine going again and the removed component comes back to us to be rebuilt.

When a component or machine stops working, our team is here to help get it back to work. But just as important is looking after equipment while it’s still running.

Preventative maintenance and regular inspections can help identify wear and developing issues before they become bigger problems.

For mining operations, that can mean better maintenance planning, fewer unexpected interruptions and helping equipment stay where it belongs, on the job.

From monitoring engine condition and performance to checking fluids, cooling systems, hydraulics and general machine condition, keeping an eye on the small things can help prevent them from becoming much bigger ones.

Sometimes the best time to look at a problem is before it becomes one.
