From the early 308 carburetor v/8 engines through to the fuel injected power plant up to and including the alloy headed Chev engines. Well there's no time like the present. There has been a bit of a shakeup here at HSD after 30 odd years in Capella crescent and over 40 years in the Moorabbin area we will be heading to Carrum Downs... There is no definite timeline as of yet but aiming to be operating in the new premises in August.

Also Pat has decided that after a long 27 years to go out on his own, he will be taking the CNC lathe producing valves and guides for us still, obviously adjusting to the change Rodney and my work loads have taken a bit of a hit as we are trying to still do the work of 4 people since Ed's retirement.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding that there's a fair bit going on so phone calls and emails have been a bit slow to reply too.
We are still operating and still taking on cylinder head jobs but engines will slow till in the new premises

Welcome to 2026 folks... It's been a very very busy couple of weeks to start the year.
We received a batch of Yella Terra alloy 6 cylinder heads that we have given the Fully 6 treatment which are now ready to leave.
A bunch of RTM (Neville 8s) with some group A and C 308 heads to freshen up.
And typical a bunch of Fully 6 9 port heads ready to box up and ship out..

We are smashing them out as fast as we can whilst still getting out our reconditioning work in between.. so if you do call or email and there is no answer please leave a message and we will get back to you.

A couple of mild Holden 6s that we have built in the past couple of weeks.

The Blue motor was only meant to get a cylinder head upgrade with a Fully 6 spec YellaTerra road racer but turned into needing pistons and a bit of a birthday, it will give the Commodore rally car that little bit more than it had without going overboard.

The 186 is a very very mild engine again only in for a cylinder head upgrade which the customer fitted a little while ago, a couple of cam issues later he bit the bullet to bring it in for a look over, again needing pistons and a bit of a birthday.

We're always happy for you to take the punt at whether your bottom end is healthy enough to support a bit of a power upgrade but if it turns out it isn't we're also able to help out and give the motor a freshen up.

Well when it rains it pours... Neville 8s (RTM Eliminators) are going out the door, we hadn't done a set for a little while then all of a sudden 7 sets within a week 4 sets finished and boxed up with another 3 sets on the porting bench.. as well as the usual suspects thrown in the mix, Fully 6s and Bathurst spec heads coming in quicker than they can go out.

Neville 8s are a great entry level upgrade with bigger valves, porting, all new spring kit, machined up and ready for unleaded fuels. These are set up for either 253, 308 or 355's. Just give us some basic engine information and we can tailor these heads to suit your engines needs.

Here we have a couple of 308/355 Holdens at two different ends of the scale, the Blue 308 is fairly basic package or Saturday night special as the customer calls it.
It's a mild [email protected]" ish hydraulic flat tappet cam, our RTM spec heads, bolt down YellaTerra rockers, cast flat top pistons and around 10.5:1 mated with a Brawler carb and Scorcher ignition will make this a real fun driver that will make the sounds have a bit of go without going over the top.

The Black 355 well that's one we have had in before but decided to upgrade the heads from the iron B cast to a set of -3 YellaTerra alloy heads machined and ported by us, it's running a solid roller crow cam, the customers original crane gold rockers, come 355 crank forged pistons etc etc, running around 11:1 will make the VK it's going into an absolute weapon.

We have been exceptionally busy at the moment but I have been taking photos of builds as we go so I will try drop some more posts as I go

Our Austin Healey 100/4 heads are back..
If you want an Australian made cylinder head for your Austin Healey don't hesitate to give us a call to customise a package for you.

We have machined up a few quickly for some very patient customers and will be machining the remaining 7 castings shortly.
These heads come fully assembled and ready to bolt on out flowing factory iron heads, with custom valves, double spring kit and most importantly not cracked.
Porting packages available as well as Yella Terra roller rockers can be supplied.
Heads are $5000inc
Rockers are $1500inc

So my good ol test rig hit the dyno today for a baseline power run before replacing the cylinder head with an Irving. The whole idea of this test is to get a baseline power and torque figure as it's been driving for the past 18 years before ripping the head off and putting an Irving with triple webers on and tidying up the engine bay after years of neglect.

Bit of background it's a 202 std red crank, red rods, HQ flat top pistons, ported 9 port head, [email protected] hydraulic cam and triple SU's and an Aussie 4 speed. A bit down on power from its original dyno 18 years ago and I could go searching but there is no point when it will all eventually be replaced with a more aggressive package later on down the track but 155hp and 200ftlb at the wheels isn't bad for a hydraulic cam

Massive thanks to Gary Chevs Performance Centre in Carrum Downs for fitting it in and getting it done.

Finally able to get some photos together of the Slant Bathurst head , there will be some more development on these as we try to locate some more castings.

In typical Fully 6 fashion these heads are reconditioned, inserted for modern fuels, larger custom profiled valves, a moderate port job for a 20-35 cfm or 25% gain over stock heads and set up with a double springs, moly retainers and hardened locks.

We will continue to make these heads better but as a Bathurst package we are pretty happy with the result.
Unfortunately these aren't changeover as we haven't got any heads in stock but we will look to change that if the call is there.
