🌱Why does hay wastage matter?

A little hay on the ground might not seem like much, but over a season, feed wastage can slowly add up.

When hay is trampled or left out in wet weather, it often becomes waste. This means more feed is needed, costs can increase, and feeding areas can become harder to manage.

A few ways to help reduce hay wastage:

✔️ Use feeders suited to the hay type
✔️ Use feeders suited to the animals being fed
✔️ Place feeders on well-drained ground where possible
✔️ Move feeding areas to reduce paddock damage

Good feed management is not only about saving hay. It helps improve feed efficiency, protect paddock condition, and support better livestock outcomes.

Agfest 2026 wrapped up for another year 💚🧑‍🌾
