Custom Cattle Halters

Custom Cattle Halters Quality Leather Show Halters and Rope and Webbing Halters for the discerning Cattle Exhibitor. I started working cattle when I was 11 years old.

I soon learnt the hard way that to get good results you had to have good equipment. So I set about learning the art of rope splicing (thanks to my Dad!!) Later I added Leatherwork to my skills (again thanks to my Dad!!) and what started as a hobby soon grew into a work from home business. Quality Showgear was started when I was just 16. I inherited tools from my Great Grandfather who was also a sa

ddler and my love of leatherwork was born. I continued teaching myself how to make rope and leather show halters for the various teams I managed and showed. I later studied under Robin Yates and Allan Hartley gaining certificates in saddlery repair and harness-making. I further refined my skills under the guidance of Shelley Cole (Shelley Cole Bridles) who brought my work to a whole new level. This culminated with a Standard of Excellence exhibit at the 2014 Sydney Royal Easter Show Craft Section. All my leather products are hand cut and stitched using top grade English Bridle leather sourced directly from the U.K and are fitted out using solid brass or stainless steel buckles, loops and chains. All my rope products are made using marine grade soft polyester Double Braid and Polyethylene Yachting rope made here in Australia. I pride myself on the fact that all my halter designs come from my 35+ years experience of breaking and training cattle for the show and sale ring. I know what works and what doesn't. My designs have been extensively tested to ensure they deliver that quality promise. Let me help you create a distinctive halter for your stud animals and get noticed where it counts!

Bit of a diversionary job today. Been a long time (about 35 years I think since I was taught by an old Navy guy to do these big ropes) since I handled rope this size!! 600m of 20mm Dyneema 12 plait rope that needed cutting in half and 4 eye splices put in. This is heavy duty stuff that is used to drag utility cables (mainly heavy electrical cables) through conduit in new estates. You can see the size of the rope compared to my legs in the photos. 3.5hrs later because stupid here forgot to take extra knives with her as Dyneema is hell on scissors πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£ I got the job done βœ”οΈ Each of these splices has a 220mm eye with a 2 METRE back core buried splice!!
The last 3 photos are what the rope company deemed "suitable". I was horrified when I opened up the nylon web casing to find a 50cm plait bound in black tape to hold it together 😳😳😳 the guidelines for splicing Dyneema under high loads - the back splice or buried core MUST BE 70 TIMES THE LENGTH OF THE DIAMETER OF THE ROPE being spliced...... so for 20mm Dyneema that's a core bury of 1440mm or 1.44m. I did 2+metres. They did 50cms and wrapped it in black tape. I'll just leave that there.........

BTW - DID I MENTION ORDERS ARE NOW OPEN πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

So it's official!!!
The house is unconditional and we are on the move mid-April 😳
Unfortunately this means I need to close orders from today until the end of April. Those orders currently on the books will be finished as advised via pm.
Not looking forward to packing up the workshop!! When I moved from Sydney to Brisbane 14 years ago it was 80 boxes just for the workshop. Who wants to take a guess how many boxes it's going to take this time???
Hint it's a 6m x 6m garage with 4 sets of workbenches and at least 3 storage cupboards πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅ not to mention the fishtanks.....
Pfa....21 hackamores made yesterday!

Its been a busy start to the season that's for sure!! A few different halters, new colours, leather halters and a very large webbing halter to fit a 10yr old 1000kg Angus steer who doesn't like pressure around his nose when being led. So I refurbished an idea I've seen used for horses where the pressure comes from the poll area rather than under the chin for leading and tying.🀞 πŸ™πŸ€žit works 😊

Surely I am not the only one that gets excited for new halters!!!

Ulysses will look dashing in his rainbow set and his pure black leather show set this season.
